I thought he was referring to the trash, after all if it was “ City Folk” there’d be a sleeping bag inside.

That was my impression as well. Maybe city folk thought it was a trash barrel and not a sand barrel and threw trash in that was then dug out.

Exactly. A raccoon or skunk dug it out and had a late night snack. Easy enough clean up but made me realize that I’ve got a pretty good case of the August’s with our tourist visitors. First world problem living in a National Park.

^ and me. Got the full Ikon for the upcoming season. Won't have to "save" my Killington days any more (hopefully).

According to a friend that works for Stratton (Alterra-owned) the areas get mo money from the corporate overlords if they stay open longer. Bodes well for spring skiing at the Beast.

Honestly not keen on an Alterra takeover even though unlimited K might be nice. Already unbearable after 9:30 on Saturdays, with talk on KZone that the bush would be a good Saturday escape from the K Krowds. Fri, Sun, Mon are busy like non holiday Saturdays fifteen years ago as well.

Staying on IKON at least for this season. Pretty cool news. How is Kzone reacting?

Phil is a big USST donor. Loves skiing.

Hopefully he's a good MP for the mountain.

Heard rumors they're going to upgrade 2-3 lifts, lodges, and base area.
    For Sale:

If you're in the Northeast and would like to borrow some Jigarex Plates I have:

    Rossi/Look plates
    Salomon Warden 13 plates
    Marker Kingpin Plates

    Yep...from Stuart Winchester:
POWDR, owner of 10 ski areas in the U.S. and Canada, will sell its Killington and Pico ski areas in Vermont to a small group of local investors, the company announced today. Both ski areas will remain on the Ikon Pass. The sale price will remain private. POWDR will retain a minority ownership stake in the two mountains and will hold a board seat, but will no longer operate the resorts.

See this at Stratton as well. Those deadbeats need to get back into their offices and quit "working" from home.

Not knowing much sounds like great news. From what I hear Burke will also be local ownership.

Just off the internet, wealthy group connected to the school. Folks from the mountain probably know who. Not sure if there are any Burke local skiers on. The board

Prais Jeebus it's locals and not Alterra...

Yea, lets get them back to the cube. Speaking of that, just down the road from me a MA couple are adding a new patio/sunken hot tub, 6x14 addition off second floor bedroom for a work from "home" office and third floor overhanging deck to their condo for only $320k

More on the Kmart sale from the local paper:
    https://mountaintimes.info/2024/08/2...-independence/

Some interesting background, including that the call went to Gross first and he put the group together, as well as mention of future plans (new Bear Mtn Lodge among others).

Not that I'm into fancy lodges (I ski at Magic FFS) but that lodge at Bear is a dump

Putting this hear as not something to ship. I have an older Packasport box for sale for $225. Holds long skis. Most similar to this one. Message if you want more details.
