Fixed gear or single speed? Enquiring minds must know.....
FWIW, my evac plan involves boldly heading east while all others head west.![]()

I’m not sure about the bikes

I hope they’re still trying to connect Sawtooth to 89. That would be great.
Yes, for linking longer rides together it would be fantastic. There’s so many different loops this would enable. Especially since they’re going to continue the bike path from TC to OV so it goes all the way to Truckee. No more crossing privately owned bridges to get to 89, either, even though the current property owners are cool about it unlike the previous owners.
Where are you thinking? I don’t know of any bridges on 89 below sawtooth. The only bridge I’ve ever used is exiting deer creek but that’s basically at the entrance to OV road
Yeah Deer Creek is currently the only option and only because the new property owners are okay with it (there are many stories of ugly confrontations with the previous owners holding riders at gun point).
The plan proposed a few years ago would include single track from sawtooth down to a new bridge crossing and you could easily head over to jackass or hop on the yet to be built paved bike path along that part of 89. It would really tie things together nicely. I’m not sure if that plan has been amended or not but it sounds great to me.
There are people in this thread who can probably speak to the specifics.
That would be way cool. I did the Deer Creek crossing a few times and never felt very welcome. That was years ago.
Last week I did the Thelin trailhead to Watson, full Big Chief to Sawtooth. What an epic ride!!
I don't get away from Martis Peak much. I was super impressed with the trail work going on over there. Huge ups and thanks to those putting in work!!
Ok thought there was something i wasn’t aware of. I could see trail building happening from sawtooth down, but I don’t think any bridge building will be likely so I won’t be holding my breath.
The current deer creek bridge exit has been fine for as long as I can recall. Maybe the issue was before the trail was re-rerouted back towards the lake. There was a previous incarnation that dumped out at a property further downriver ? Idk, but glad it’s an option now
A bridge going into Truckee is a much easier sell than one just connecting a couple of trail heads on either side of 89. Even if it’s just a footy. It would be nice but I’m not gonna hold my breath on that one
They're going to build a new bridge and parking lot east of the 89/west river intersection where that burned out a-frame is.
They already built most of the paved trail south of the river between downtown and 89. The project was held up for a while bc of a shitty property owner south of the river. Not sure if it's still held up or not.
New TGR flick @ Palisades tonight after Oktoberfest
IDK about that for two projects I would have loved
Ice rink (abandoned after years of work/planning) and Rocker skatepark (shovel ready after many many years of work and planning, still waiting)

We were at the early show. Really solid movie this year. Better than last year. Kai is a machine and I was amped to see Sammy Carlson with a part!!
Back to the trails.... Isn't it OTB that drops at the footbridge just south of OV? What, maybe a mile up 89 from Deer Creek.
IMO, the more access and trail heads, the better. There's plenty of dirt out there. Spread folks out.
Yeah OTB hits the 06 fire road right around there - really just a few hundred feet from the top of Deer Creek. But the bridge being proposed would be closer to the sawtooth parking lot so several miles away. Opens up so many more loops and no need to drive through Sierra Meadows to get over there. Anyway fingers crossed.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’m fkn ready
bought my SB midweek pass and rebuilt my quiver
I sold or gave away everything I had except for the V6
bring it

To our Homewood community,????
As the caretakers of Homewood Mountain, we have always been excited to revitalize the resort and improve the skier experience for all with updated infrastructure and responsible environmental improvements to ensure the resort’s economic and environmental sustainability, consistent with the approved Master Plan.?????
For many years, Homewood Mountain Resort (HMR) has been subsidizing the community’s ski experience while operating at a deficit during the approved Master Plan’s planning and permitting phases. Unlike other small ski resorts in the Lake Tahoe Basin such as Diamond Peak, Homewood is a privately owned business and is not supported by any public tax or other community assessment.?For the last several years we have relied on our financial partner for the annual subsidy.?
In May 2024, HMR submitted an application for minor revisions to the 2011 approved Master Plan to the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency. The proposed revisions are site plan modifications only. The proposed site plan changes are to move the gondola terminal to a more skier-friendly position, to reduce the massing of the buildings, reduce residential density, and to open the view corridors of the mountain and lake. The revisions make no changes whatsoever to the Master Plan’s central goal of restoring Homewood as a key gathering center for Lake Tahoe’s West Shore. Anyone who wants to buy a pass and ski at Homewood will continue to be able to do so on equal footing with anyone else.?
Since the applications were submitted, the Homewood Mountain Resort team has been diligently working with local and regional agencies and the West Shore community regarding the submission. ?To date, we are still awaiting approval of the amendments, including the Madden Chair replacement (gondola) permit submitted over a year ago, to move forward on ski infrastructure and other investments. Hypothetical fears and false rumors regarding public access to the mountain from Keep Homewood Public’s leadership have dramatically slowed the pace of the approval process.??
Without a clear path forward, our financial partner has withdrawn their support for this ski season. As a result, we are now in the regrettable position of being unable to operate or sell season passes for the 2024-25 season.?We understand the deep disappointment this announcement will cause. It goes without saying that this decision was not made lightly.???
The team at HMR remains focused on working through the approval process at this year’s upcoming planning meetings with community members and governing agencies in the hope that we can get the gondola installed next year and someday soon resume operations at the resort.??We are also working to support every employee so they have alternative employment or can stay with us while we work through the approval processes.??
We remain steadfast in our belief that our proposed revised plan – which includes new state-of-the-art infrastructure, environmental improvements, community gathering spaces, public access to the ski hill, and more – meets all stated requirements, addresses all concerns, and exemplifies economic and environmental responsibility.????
We are committed to the vision we share with the community for an enhanced, sustainable skier experience at Homewood Mountain Resort that will be available for locals and visitors alike for years to come.????
Sincerely,????
Homewood Mountain Resort????
