Can cut through south of Elk Grove to EDH and bypass Sac altogether. It’s actually the shortest route

^Good to know, but that'll work for me. I think it is the only tahoe ski resort I've never skied.

I'm sure it will change the place a bit, but maybe not quite he draw of those other resorts. It is important to emphasize how boring, and short and the best tree skiing is ruined, etc. when discuss S@T with the Ikoners. And its flat, and the toilets are not clean. So on and so forth.

BV and DR are both very enjoyable resorts. Low though. I could spend at least a season at either one, but with DR, you are giving up any gnarportunities, except for that one rock.

duffs, if you decide to go back ikon, send me a PM. My money is it takes at least a season for it to become a shit show, and maybe it does not happen. And when you choose to drive, drive to Mammoth. Mid week that place is soo much better than Palisades. Never spent a weekend there in winter, but come April, weekends can be quite fun as well. Rarely a lift line, and no traffic coming from the north. O otherwise, condolences.

I wish S@T would have gone Epic to pull some of the 50 crowd away from Heavenly and Kwood

I get what mikes saying tho, if you got the time and energy to tour that seems like a more and more appealing move

I skied DSR for my first time on the final pow day of last season. Skied a lot of untracked lines. Super fun.

Hearing the news was anti- stoke since we have unlimited passes for the kids high school race team. More I thought about it, at least it isn’t part of epic. Kirkwood was hit hard with heavenly overflow last season - could you imagine if they could be sent to Sierra instead? Hello fast pass line! If current ikoners want to schlep to the ski ranch instead of north shore or Mammy - good on them! Was on the fence about a kirkwood only pass this year with the new required parking rezzy’s. Definitely getting one now though to have another lift served option.

It could be a tickler for Alterra to test if acquisition makes sense. But more likely Sierra initiated the dialogue to promote itself. As much as I enjoyed the uncrowded lifts I also want Sierra to thrive.

The real shit show days will be the many times per winter when 80 is closed but 50 isn’t. Those also tend to be the best pow days at Sierra.

Some of y’all need to revisit the Fight Club rules…

Cuz now y’all have done gone and ruined DSR, SS, and T/D by hyping them up here and thus enticing all the entitled Yay Area toolrists to converge on them this season…

Didn't S@T get a shitload of help from several Ikon resorts after Caldor? Is this payment in lieu of cash? The combination of COVID and Caldor felt like it was almost a 1-2 knockout punch, but it felt like the industry came to help the little resort that could along.

I had a pass there from 2017-2022, but the kids outgrew sierra so we moved to ikon. S@T already had parking problems, and I don't see the Ikon touron crowd liking the family ski day cafeteria vibe very much. Hopefully this is a one time payment for the help they got after the fire. 45 minute lines at Grandview will be a buzzkill.
Wait, how can we trust this guy^^^ He's clearly not DJSapp

The Forest Service gave Sierra a lot of support too. Last year they had a VIP visit from a Washington FS team. Uniforms clean and good behavior deal.

If you have kids in ski team I can show it becomes less than ideal. And, as mentioned, there really isn’t much parking there. I’ve seen cars backed up East 50 from the resort for several miles when the parking lot is already full.

What is the "IKON touron crowd"? It is people who like to ski, people just like the non-IKON skiers, the people on this forum. Around here most people have IKON passes because for most people that's the only pass option for Palisades. I doubt many out of state destination skiers will be heading to S@T. It will be the same people who are skiing Palisades now. There is nothing to be gained by trying to make an us vs them thing out of ski area crowding, lack of parking, traffic, or anything else. We are all equally part of the problem
