    Deer in Tahoe?

I groom at heavenly and they are crawling all over the place up there at night. While I’m not surprised I myself haven’t seen them in town yet at all.

    https://old.reddit.com/r/tahoe/comme...ity/?rdt=56326

I would have expected to see them all over the place, but the only deer I've ever seen in Tahoe was a single buck once when hiking with my dog during the summer up above Stagecoach at Heavenly.

    Speaking of wildlife...

The state’s black bear population is growing and the animals are increasingly pressing from the forests into neighborhoods and city centers. Reports of conflicts between bears and people appear to be as high as ever, according to state records.

I used to see deer on Donner Lake Road heading from Truckee to Sac in the evenings in the summer. A half dozen or so, grazing. Haven't seen them in a while, either they're gone or maybe because I don't have any reason to drive to Sac in the evenings.

Props to Mikey B for hooking it up on a pair of skis for the wife from the backcountry. I also saw some Tecnica 0G pro tours for 60% of ~$360 in a 26.5 if anyone needs boots

Wow, first I heard of the attack. Interesting and unusual.

Plenty of bear and deer in our neighborhood this year. A juvenile black bear tried to get into a truck at my house last week. There were paw prints all around the truck.

There are scratches by my door handle that serve as reminder to always lock my truck. These bears are conditioned scavengers.

Managed to snag some easy access turns last Friday (11 minutes from truck to snow).
Although I shoulda been hitting this spot regularly back in late April and alla May when it woulda had much more snow, it still served up some sweet schuss, albeit short in stature— only managed to squeeze out 9 turns per run using a 186cm Blizzard Regulator with a 22M radius…

Snow was creamy smooth between 9am and 11, too.

Killer heat wave coming. At least 6 straight days of 105-110 down here in the valley, might hit 90 at the lake?

The billionaire Meta boss is building a massive home on two properties combining 10 acres of lakefront property, complete with a lakeside spa and thermal security cameras. He bought the land for $59 million between 2018 and 2019.

Could also be posted in the musk thread..

Speaking of tasteless billionaires doing whatever they fucking want at the lakefront.... Which is actually a story as old as the rat pack....

"Construction on the underwater hockey pool is visible from Lakeshore Boulevard, and neighbors and Incline Village residents are questioning whether an underwater hockey pool fits within the parameters of the single-family residential use that’s stated on the stamped and approved plans."

Tahoe '23/'24 - Reserve Now For Best Pricing!!!

^^ My friend’s kids go to school with his kids and there’s something of a technical workaround (or loophole) in place. I don’t want to spread inaccurate info so won’t go into specifics.

The excuses that they used for scraping the house was pretty weak. Fucking trpa gave my neighbor shit about an long existing trail through his property using “too much coverage” yet they allow that mega mansion and giant lawn shit as long as you have deep pockets.

I’ll be pretty tempted to troll that lake side on my paddle board and see how accommodating his security is about public space at the waterline

Or maybe the school is the local program for kids who were kicked out school and couldn't cut it in GED--mostly kids who've been involved with the courts. (I worked with some of them doing a woodworking class--nice enough kids, some of them pretty bright.)
