So, two nights ago I had a bit of a spooky 'encounter' on the descent to the Nelson parking lot in the dark. (9:00 pm).I heard, really, really loud noises, kinda like big rocks rolling down the hill. Spooky enough that I went as fast as I could to get out of there...
Why am I sharing this? Because there is a momma and baby grizzly up there. Watch your pets, bring bear spray, and make noise!

Lots of construction heli flights around the village today. Looks like them lift parts are heading up there. Interesting because last weekend I heard the footings weren't done

That's the helo I flew (mostly) in the Army. They used a French helicopter (Super Puma) to install the lift towers for the quad at Magic. Same guy does most lift installs here in New England. That dude has skillzzzz.

Hellz yeah that guy is amazing. I watched him pull the snow king lift and stack it neatly in about 30 minutes at the base. That ship was parked roadside last evening when I rode out for Mail.

I rode the moto up to Moran yesterday and it was howling outta the w/sw. I could see the smoke bumping up and knew it was likely raging and heading Dubois way.

Two things: can see the upper towers for Sublette chair installed

Then whoa the smoke rolled in. Same shot. Smells like I'm inside a wood stove taken two hours apart this morning

Yeah I think Djongo was going too easy on him when he said he was trying to streamline the department. What he did was come in and try to make wholesale changes without understanding the culture of the fire service, let alone the fire service in Jackson. And his agenda was to make those changes through intimidation and division. And to be honest, the changes he was trying to make put residents and firefighters at risk.

Well this is the first day that I have had to abort plans to ride and stay indoors. We have been lucky over here in Teton Valley this summer. Dang east wind. Jacksonites I feel your pain, Moose and Moran are high 200s and even 300.

HMS, we took a chance and rode Grove/Red/Corral/Grove this afternoon and literally once we started up Grove we were treated with clear skis for the rest of our ride while the northern half of Teton Valley seemed like it stayed socked in all day...Click image for larger version.

    Nice job @GravityDT

I was still tired from Palisades on Friday. Hoping for another aspens session before the curtain drops.

Just dropping in to say the WYSAW event was great. Went to both days. Presentations were good, I liked the sciency vibe without it being overbearing on the topic of avalanches in general.

Glad to hear, thanks. We let speakers have longer this year- generally 20-30 minutes rather than 15. I think it made for a more relaxed schedule with time to dig into topics.
