UPD is gone from the canyons, it's the Sheriff now.
And Brighton is doing its own law enforcement thing.
Lot's of new faces patrolling now, but there should be less turnover vs. UPD.When life gives you haters, make haterade.

I’m pretty sure the rookies contributions to canyon fuckery will be far outweighed by the usual first year gotta get the pow Subaru drivers rocking all seasons.

I'm going to use one of my bitch tickets from the winter for something that may be controversial:
I don't like independent threads.
Now I gotta click on two threads for the same info that used to be put in one. The bitching isn't that bad, and if we aren't talking about parking or driving there's only like 4 dudes posting stoke anyways

Summer is for bitching
I don’t think the creation of two threads will keep people from bitching about traffic in both, but Colorado has like 3 threads in the conditions forum and Utah is better than Colorado so we likely need more threads not less.
We have to convince more people to come here!

I didn't even realize any major airlines flew out of Provo. I thought is was just Allegiant and Breeze, but it looks like American does as well. It made me look at SLC-Zurich options for March, and you can actually get better itineraries (1 stop instead of 2) for the mid $600's right now. Good time to book a BBI Euro 2025 trip.

Hey tgapp, advance congrats to you and the msgapp, profound shit is coming up!! And then it gets easier (and then harder again).
All our hand-me-down stuff is long gone, but somehow I do still have some kid-length XC-width skins, which our little guy (now big guy) used to build confidence on the skinny sticks when he was like 3, and then used yet more when he was somewhat older (switched out to downhill gear that I was carrying when we got to the take-off-skins spot).
Fun times and hard times and good memories ahead for you! Do whatever you can to help mom get the sleep she needs. And I'm sure we'll be seeing the little ripper in the kidstoke thread before long.

thanks everyone, honestly, this community is so special. not trying to bring main character energy here, just don't have a particularly supportive family & you all rock. also being a first time dad is fkn terrifying, so y'all who have been down this path are an incredible source of knowledge.
ended up finishing the weekend with another 16 mile hike. wish i had brought the fly rod...

ha, funny you say that, I actually tried to take a good picture of black ice. doesn't appear to be in, unfortunately.
next time we go we wanna do the paintbrush divide/Cascade loop in a day. it's not that much longer than what we did.

Just posted in book thread, but wanted to also mention it here. I want to highly recommend that all people who frequent this thread read Junior Bounous and the Joys of Skiing. A lot of you guys probably know him personally, have skied with him or have at least seen him and/or his wife at Snowbird, ALTA or on the skin track. Have any stories? Please share.

Junior skied powder like Alf.
They left their skis down in the snow and didn't boing their way down the hill like everybody else did on the long, skinny, stiff skis and unsupportive boots of the 50's and 60's.
So beautiful, no?
Junior's son Steve was the next really natural skier to come out of the bird.
Wonder where the gift came from? Beautifully smooth skier. Pretty good racer, too.
Maxine was no slouch in the powder in her own right...
Junior was ? old when he last skied the Pipeline?
Nicest fella one will ever meet, humble and inspirational.
Taught himself skiing in his folk's orchard in Provo.
Still living on his own and getting a lot of partial days on the hill at 99?Time spent skiing cannot be deducted from one's life.
