He was friend of a friend, met him at Basin's closing day this year. His wife called up my buddy looking for him on Sunday, they weren't skiing together that day. Sound like he just took a tumble, head/neck trauma? My buddy thought it was inbounds, but that doesn't jive with the news story. RIP Chuck.

Bet he was inbounds. The bird shies away from the truth...

Yeah, stated his phone was located “near Gadzoom”. Was thinking he came off the traverse and slid into Gad Valley. Only access to Upper-Mid Cirque is open. Was thinking he had an issue and fell westward under the ropes. Not confirmed.

    RIP

Inside the ski area boundary but not in open terrain should be reported as closed terrain, not out of bounds eh?

    Total bummer.

I bet yer right. Wouldn't be the first fatal fall under the rope at that place, either.

Wife used to do the overnight media snow reporting for the bird in the 90's.
Hadda wait for Alta's new snow report to come out cuz the formula was whatever Alta reported minus 10%.
Didn't matter what actually fell; I was measuring that for the actual records.
    Quite a laugh comparing notes...

Man that was a tough read. The photo at the end really hit me. I don’t frequent skimo often. But I have interacted with Andrew a few times and he was a really nice genuine kid. The times I went there I intentionally interacted with him as he seemed to be the most humble cool guy there. RIP Andrew.

Surfy run late this afternoon at the Alta. Was a good sweat, paid off with ~60 turns. Caught a break in the clouds and could see!

They say the key to happiness is low expectations. Possibly my best day ever this late in the season. Will get some video up shortly.

What a way to end the season. 34k of skiing, this is just a taste. Thanks to the Hugehairdog for filming.

I went up with beyond low expectations ( basically expecting to take 2 runs and go grab the bije), based on temps I saw yesterday. The storm definitely rolled in as rain and the underlying surface never froze. Skiing was surprisingly good. Not as good as the legit pow day on Father’s Day in 2011. But certainly finished my lift served skiing this year on a high note.

Awesome skiing and footage DTM, looks like you are having a blast. As someone who gets a huge rush on 2 inches of air, I can only imagine how that feels. Reminds me of this post which is the only one I have bookmarked and always good to get stoked on.

Who needs a gondola when we might be able to just take an air taxi to Alta.

LOL at Cox saying this could be a solution to traffic issues for the general public.
