    Mike is legend.

Conflicted on alterra. But. With CMh and wiegle. Hmmm. They might be saving skiing from vail.
Heli seems like a labor of ski love. Maybe alterra has a soul after all.

<shrug> It had to be someone, and it's a logical fit with CMH. They've been negotiating for long enough. It'll be interesting to see how they manage it.

Blue River, B.C. where Mike Wiegele Helisking is located get tons of snow; more than just about any place you can name.

What was once a once in a lifetime trip will now be just so much recycled poop. A sad day imo.

Meh. Mike built his dream. But he’s done. Good for him that he found a buyer.
I hope part of the deal is free heli for his last days.

If you don’t recycle poop this year, you’ll be one year older when you do.

I know it's the internet, but he died in 2021.

It's been a long time since Mike or family paid for their flying time. Mike was always very pro-snowboarder, when in the early days not all similar organizations were. He was also 100% business; he liked us snowboarders because he saw what was to come, and he knew our money was as good as the guys in the powder suits.

I spend quite a lot of time in the place he created, and watched it lose drive in recent times. What happens next is up to the purchaser, but nothing stays the same forever and I'm excited about what may come next. For example Mike's business model left much of his tenure relatively unexploited - there's a massive opportunity there for someone with the drive and energy Mike once had in spades.
