There is not and has never been a system of apartheid in Israel. Your hatred
permits itself no boundaries to the lies and falsehoods it pours out.
Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas leader who helped plan 10/7, his three sisters live in Israel as full citizens. Their children served in the Israeli army. The more than 1-in-5 Israelis of Arab descent have full citizen rights as do the Druze and other Israeli minorities including Bedouins. While, in contrast, the Bedouin who like the Jews are also indigenous people of Israel were ethnically cleansed from Gaza after Hamas took full control in 2005.
Muslim, Christian, Druze, and Baha'is Israelis have the same rights as Jews. In Iran religious minorities are persecuted by the state. The largest Iranian Bahai's minority isn't allowed to attend university, are forcibly displaced, face restricted religious freedom, and have no political representation.
In Israel women have the same rights as men. Not so in Gaza or in most of the Middle East. Gay Israelis face no state imposed restrictions. In Gaza and the West Bank openly gay people are killed often by hanging or stoned to death. Gay Palestinians flee to Israel for safety.
The imbalance is palpable. Israel is one the world's freest countries. Each one of Israel's neighbors resembles South Africa in fact and kind, yet illiberal leftists in the West chose to only protest Israel the only country in the region that grants equal rights to women, gay people, and minorities.

You’re throwing a lot of shit out there to deflect from the fact that the West Bank and Gaza (arguably to a lesser extent) are under apartheid. And that’s not just “western liberals” making the claim, it’s Israelis. It’s a former head of the Mossad. It’s a former northern commander of the Israeli army. It’s the UN.

If Israel were to annex Gaza and the West Bank and not grant full citizenship rights to Palestinians then that would be apartheid. Israel, for example, annexed the Golan Heights and granted citizen rights to the Druze.
In contrast, real world examples in the region include the gender apartheid states of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Gaza and the West Bank. We're talking about literal Handmaid’s Tale regimes that hate women and gay people. It's permanent oppression of half of the population under the heel of brutal apartheid regimes.
So, the apartheid debate can be summarized as follows: if Israel is doing it for racial, gender, or religious reasons then legally it's apartheid; if Israel is doing it for security reasons then from a legal standpoint it's not apartheid.

You've got that precisely backwards. The majority of Palestinians call for the complete destruction of Israel and act on those beliefs accordingly. Israel chooses not to acquiesce in its own destruction. Despite the radical Jewish settler movement, a majority of Israelis would gladly turn over Gaza and the West Bank if it meant real peace and have in fact offered to do so in the past.
Israelis are moving from the left to the right, they no longer believe in a two-state solution, unilateral withdrawal, bilateral withdrawals, etc., because time and again Palestinians have shown they have zero interest in peace:

No other country would accept daily attacks on its citizens. There is no way Israel can allow Hamas to remain in power. The urban environment, the density of tunnels under population centers, the goals of Hamas to see its own citizens killed make this war an exceptionally difficult one for Israel to fight bloodlessly.
Restraint is something forever required of Israel but never her enemies. Besides trying to whitewash Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with false claims, their is no restraint Israel could show that would satisfy its haters like Rod—who along with Ukraine would rejoice in seeing both countries destroyed.

That's "ok" because Russia is a pariah state subject to severe international sanctions (scare quotes to indicate it's not ok to bomb cities and civilians, as indicated by the sanctions). Israel bombs civilians and blows up cities, and that's ok because pretzel logic. Maybe Russia's mistake is they didn't occupy and control the territories before beginning atrocities.
Israel needs to get their shit together before the world wakes up and treats them like Russia.

Putin's mistake was the same as Sinwar's mistake. They both invaded a sovereign country expecting to get away with it. They both believed they would achieve a total victory. They were both wrong. Both could end their wars tomorrow. Russia by leaving Ukraine and Gaza by releasing the hostages & surrendering.

Forget about ending the war, they should just put their soldiers in street clothes and LSL and Rod will be begging to give Kyiv to Putin.

Probably a waste of words...
Occupations are bad mmkay? Tend to produce rebels and terrorists. Always have, always will. Israel's founding gift from UK and US. Gifting this land that wasn't theirs to give. I believe peace is possible though it requires a sustained effort. Endless war is also possible and may be this generation's choice.

We've gone over this before and LSL keeps telling the same lies. He watched one, one sided video and immediately bought into anti-Israel propaganda.
Palestine at the time was a region like the American Midwest, not a country. In that region, among other people, there were Palestinian Arabs and Palestinian Jews. It's not historically accurate to say Palestine was taken from Palestinians and given to the Jews.
Below is a map of the British Mandate Palestine region prior to WWII. It's noteworthy that nobody today is saying the UK stole Palestine west of the Jordan River from Palestinians and gave it to the Hashemite Kingdom:
The majority of Israelis, including a majority of Israel's Jews, are of Middle-Eastern and African descent. So it's truly baffling how American and European identity politics are constantly being brought into this. It's a mind-virus spread by Israel's enemies to rationalize any and all attacks on what is one of the most racially and ethnically diverse countries in the world.
LSL is too dim to come up with that on his own, it's a shopworn talking point. Although he's right when he says endless war is possible because in buying into anti-Israel propaganda, as a useful idiot, he's unwittingly feeding the war machine. He can't even recognize the obvious contradiction in his diatribe

US, UK, Australia, Sweden, France, Italy, Canada, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Jordan and more are urging their citizens to leave Lebanon ASAP on any available flight.
Wasp ARG is off the coast of Lebanon. Embarked 24 MEU is specops capable. That will be the force to extract Americans and allied citizens.
Roosevelt CSG was last reported in the Persian Gulf a few days ago. That will be the force to suppress/intercept attacks from Iran/proxies.
Lincoln CSG is headed to the theater. Already in WestPac so it will only take a few days to arrive on station. She has F-35Cs.
That would bring the US forces in the theater to:
2 CVN, 1 LPH
1 CG, 12 DDG
1 LPD, 1 LSD, 1 LCC
6 WPC (Sentinels in Bahrain)
various support ships
4-6+ SSNs an 1+ SSGN (probably, maybe more)
~180 aircraft, ~50 helos, ~1500 VLS tubes. Plus America ARG is in WestPac with 20 F-35Bs.
That's a lot of FAFO floating around. May it not be needed!Last edited by summit; 08-04-2024 at 04:27 PM.

US forward deployed at least 1 additional fighter squadron of unspecified type to an unspecified country in the region.
US forces were attacke by an Iranian affiliated militia in central Iraq. Among the casualties was a Houthi leader!
US pledges to rapidly restock war reserves pulled from regional wharehouses to supply Ukraine.
Hezbollah has sent a stream of drones and rockets into Northern Israel injuring 2
Israel eliminated a Hamas Deputy Minister and found a Hamas tunnel large enough that vehicles drive through.
Rumor is Israel asked an European country to relay to Iran that if Iran attacks civilian targets as Iran has promised to do in their "retaliation," that the Israeli counterattack may be Iranian nuclear sites.Originally Posted by blurred

Hamas chooses Sinwar, mastermind of Oct 7, as its new leader, reconfirming that Hamas has zero interest in peace.
Iran says they do not care if their actions lead to war.
Western governments expected major Iranian action already, but still remain convinced an Iranian attack is imminent.
Sweden evacuated their embassy in Lebanon.
Many evacuation aircraft from many nations are staging in Cyprus.
Perhaps efforts by regional and extra-regional states, plus the show of force by western nations, has allowed Iranian leaders to calm down enough to recognize the reestablishment of deterrence by Israel. Or maybe Iran will just do their usual thing and have Hezbollah attack Jewish community centers, businesses, groceries, day cars, and Israeli Embassies and tourists across the world rather than in Israel, as they have in the past. Or, as some sources say, a multifront attack on Israel is still coming, but is still in the planning stages.
UN fires more UNWRA staffers for participating in the Oct 7 massacres.
Russia shipping advanced SAM systems to Iran. Maybe Iran is waiting on these to act.
Harvard must face a lawsuit over the extreme actions during protests as U.S. District Judge Richard Stearns in Boston found plausible accusations that Harvard was deliberately indifferent toward Jewish and Israeli students.Originally Posted by blurred

Pretty sure you don't know what an "Accord" is, but if that's Arab land by the Rashidun Conquest, it's Israeli land by the Six-Day War and thus theirs to do with as they please.
