    Hawaii House Build

*spoiler alert: lots sweating and cursing involved !

Ive been working on this house for 2 years now all out of pocket. On this 3 week trip in August I solo framed the second floor and roof in prep for the plumber and electrician to get in and do their thing.

I've had people ask why I didn't attach the T111 sheathing to the framing before standing the walls... 2 reasons:

1). All the lumber in Hawaii is soaked in Borate which is basically a salt water brine solution to prevent termite damage and as result it weighs A LOT! These damn sheets of plywood were easy over 100 lbs so I could stand a wall by myself

    2) there are straps that had to attach from the first floor framing to second floor and there was no way to get them under the sheathing even if I were to stand up with jacks...

Next trip in November will be solo drywall install... yaaaay!!!

^^ ha thanks, it's been an effort for sure! I might be the only person who goes to Hawaii for pure workaholic mode! some day I'll go and actually relax a bit...

    Hawaii House Build

Well this is just a lot of fun to follow. Awesome content.

I’ll be honest that I watched a ton but missed, if it was mentioned, where exactly you are building.

Damn. So. Much. Work. Thanks for sharing, it's amazing. Is there no equipment rentals around there? That T-111, yikes.

I think i am the only person who has visited the Carpathian ski factory

It was out on that street that rhymes with Vagina

it was built between 4 large trees that were the corner posts of the shed,

it was a little windy that night and the whole shed was moving in the wind

    pretty trippy eh

Wow. Solo home build in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, building skis in Alaska, skiing everyday in winter, documenting, editing, and pushing out content almost daily. And probably working a regular job in there somewhere.

Unreal and don’t know how you do it Carpathian. Wish I had half the motivation.

lol I might have a disorder...! I temper and focus all of the ideas into action with weed mostly. I'm the weirdo that comes home from long day at work (house building), smokes some weed, drinks a beer and then HAS to go run 10 miles or whatever. Feel guilty otherwise so as to not waste my time here on earth

If I was to say two words they'd be "Boom Lift" but I'm not superhuman like Carpathian.
