Fuck Yakima bars. PSA

Pulled the roof box off my wife’s atlas and what the holy fuck.
Somehow the screw worked loose or pulled out. I know I tightened it.

But when I bought these I was already suss that it’s just a rubber strap. My old Thule had metal clamps with rubber padding. Not a big fan of this design.
This setup is approximately one year old.

Agreed. Had almost the same thing happen to one of the towers to my set. I got by for a little while with a whole lotta duct tape. I blame myself for going with the aero bar shape instead of the way more tried and try round bar. The clamp that surrounds the aero bar that attaches into the tower is garbage. Probably a fine setup for someone that carries only a 15 pound road bike. I was hauling much heavier loads.
