Adhesive Goretex repair patches?
Are these a thing? For repairing small rips and holes in shell jackets and pants, rather than replacing the whole thing. Any recommendations?

This stuff works good too. It’s a tape so probably not as thick as the patch but works great on soft shell material and down jackets.

Tenacious tape is great. I’ve also used Kenyon K-Tape with success.

Does the patch really need to be GoreTex?

But you won’t have peak performance.
Probably best not to leave the house until you get the gore-Tex ones.

Look at the total square inchs of Gortex in a piece and calculate the ratio of breathable to a non breathable patch and realize its not worth worrying about how breathable your patch job is. I have patched/ fixed/ tested around 500 gortex dry suits at a rescue 3 provider, I would blow the suit up to find the hole, clean with acetone and slap on a patch cut from an old drysuit using aqua seal, its wasn't breathable but it was water proof
Aqua seal is a good thing to have for all kinds of outdoor gear repair, 7 pages of how to fix your own fucking gear eh

I have seen some bad fucking patch jobs done with dentalfloss & bathtub caulk, so whatever you do fix on the INSIDE unless of course its a lined piece where you can notLast edited by XXX-er; 09-24-2023 at 02:41 PM.

If it's an unlined shell, line up the edges of the tear and tape with packing tape on the outside. Then a used dryer sheet and some aqua seal on the inside. If you do a good job lining up the edges you can hardly notice the repair on the outside.
