I might be able to get a hold of him.

If he's healed up, ASmileyFace would be my nomination. He always brings some A+ San Juan stoke to the forum.
True, but will he be healed up by then?

Good one. Got him on the nominees list.

    IAS was already on there.

welp, i just got laid off

not sure if this makes me MORE qualified as a scholarship candidate or less - since i don't really know what the future holds at this point - but i guess i wish i had gotten laid off in march

Well that certainly sucks, damn dude. Hang tough.

Maybe it's a sign that you're due for a full blown ski bum season. Get a job on the hill or in a shop and get your ship righted.
Steady the mind, take a euro lap then charge ahead full steam on the path you choose.

Let's open a coffee roasting company and call it Kopi Mag Coffee Co. We could spacer a few maggots, hire a few as baristas, and place their swag throughout the retail establishment.

I think you could pre sell a bunch of coffee here to at least keep the wolves at the door.
Who knows where it might go?

In for the stoke and dreams.

Anyone who is willing to part with a piece of themselves deserves something special from the rest of us.
I hope Tgapp avails himself of this opportunity.

Strong weekend folks. We're now just short of $1100 -- or $500 from paying a big part of one mags trip to the community-built goodness of skiing in the alps and staying at Venduls. Props to all the contributors.

I've been in touch with Tgapp (and not just cause I want his coffee.) I haven't gotten a firm decline from him, and he has plenty to sort out currently. No need to accept/decline for another month.

    Nominations
    tgapp
    IAS
    ASmileyFace
    telefreewasatch (declined)

I'd like to nominate singlecross cuz we need an ice coaster on the list. Dude brings the stoke, is generous as hell, and flat ass rips. I count him as a real (not internet) friend.

Nomination received! Agreed -- he's a great source of stoke.

no idea if he'd accept or if he'd be mad at me for even nominating him, but I nominate ex-powderbroker. I think the last year has been tough for him plus he does an enormous amount of behind the scenes shit to keep this forum running, all for the fat sum of $0.

Love this stoke. I have no idea who tgapp is, but after reading this thread, and his unfortunately really funny story about the 8000m expedition suit, I feel like he absolutely deserves this.

Buster just pointed me in the direction of this thread!

It's been a crazy time and I really appreciate even being considered for this skolarship.

My current status on my busted leg is that I have had a little bit of a set back and reality check with my progress. I am going under the knife again in late October to force mobility and remove scar tissue. My surgeon is damn sure this will help long term. My hope is it does not set me back more than 2-4 weeks. I had a goal to to put skis back on in January but now I am hoping for March/April, which means I will likely need to decline.

I gotta throw my hat in for tgapp as well. Dude deserves a trip to Europe as much as anyone here for all the stoke and laughs he has provided.

I appreciate the mention and the consideration but am compelled to decline.

Through the miraculous task of wandering through this life mostly stoned and following bumper sticker advice to “Follow your Bliss” and “Don’t postpone Joy” on my way to Dead shows and kayaking put-ins, I was able to amass enough Cosmik Energy and Karma to…. marry well. I’m currently well ensconced as a “Gypsy in the Palace” to use Buffet parlance. I’d like to thank Greg Stump for showing me the path to becoming a Planetary Ski Bum Healer.

In lieu of accepting any monetary considerations, I would however accept a flat parking spot with an extension cord and possibly use of a shower when Mrs.single and I make a 6 week lap of the West this February/March in our truck camper to celebrate our newly empty nest. Coming soon to a Mountain Collective destination near you!

If any of that plan falls apart, I’ll ski y’all in Switzerland on my own dime.

tgapp should definitely walk through this door that the Universe has opened.

Nice rig! We're not on the MC trail but if you decide to hit some of the smaller areas in Montana and want to swing through Helena, we've got plenty of room to park that thing at our place.

Donation in. I won’t be able to swing this due to my 1 and 3 year olds but give us a few seasons and we’ll book the family room!

Yes I’m a big time lurker here and stuff like this is the coolest part of this place. I’ve had the pleasure of skiing and traveling in CH (my parents spent 3 years in Luzern) and for those who haven’t been before, your mind is going to be blown.
