Jim Croce and Graham Parsons died 50 years ago this week.
Public Radio wfuv just told me and did a show about both.
I was about to turn 3 at the time, so no memories but I would be hard pressed to think of two white gents who influenced my musical tastes more.

damn. i remember croce better. his music was deep but accessible enough that i a kid could be moved by them. i remember seeing him on tv and getting lots of airplay. was very bummed... just read, died at only 30.
wow. assumed he was 10yrs older.

Love me some Croce.
In college my roomies and I had a game where we'd buy breakfast for anyone who could hook up with a girl while Operator played on repeat and cognac was served upon returning to our apartment. It was a fun game and also pragmatic because if Croce was playing when you got home, someone was operating, so you'd tiptoe to your room while giggling.

There are a couple of worthwhile documentaries on You-Tube about Parsons. Interesting guy, great musician, troubled life.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.
