Music gear, but always test it first. Not ridiculous good deals, some really unrealistically high tags. Talk to them. .. you can find a deal here and there..

Some of the pawn shops around here actually leave the door locked and buzz people in with caution.

Haven’t been in a pawn shop in at least a decade. Back when power tools were expensive it was a hard pas due to encouraging theft.. Guns I would imagine require a background check in Oregon, so that would be okay.

Side note, good friend of my dad’s made big money with a chain of pawn shops. Always freaked me out when we visited as there were guns hanging all around the office, loaded. For some reason they would have a ring of colored electric tape around the stock and/or cartridge.

I've bought and sold several guns at pawn shops. There used to be a pawn shop in Missoula called the Sports Exchange. Bought my first backpack, backpack stove, skis, ski pants, all kinds of shit there. But yeah it's been decades since I went in one with any intent to buy.

And the worst prices on ammo.

The due behind the counter is often more knowledgeable about guns than the dude at the gun shop.

If you can trust them, it’s the best place to buy diamonds. Find one that uses a independent appraiser that will give you a report / certification. Get them reset as needed.

That’s so you know which are loaded with live ammunition, and which with blanks.

    What’s the use in blanks?

Rubber pellets or rock salt I could see. But unless you’re goal is to make everyone’s ears ring for a week, why fire a gun with blanks?

A buddy years ago alerted me to a nice amp for the 911. What a difference for cheap.

I’d rather buy a pawn shop dildo than diamond.

When I lived in Indy-no-place I used to frequent the downtown pawn shops looking for vintage guitars. I really wish I has bought some then that I really really cannot afford now.

Bought some skis and a few electronics, my main rule is, if it will be against my skin, I will pass.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

I bought a mtb at one back in 1995, rode it for a few weeks until I had a little more cash then traded up at the same place. It worked for me. I've never had a good experience with one since so haven't even bothered to go into any of the ones I see in a few years now.

I guess I’ll just have to trust you on that one. An example would be nice.

As a 14 year old kid sitting in the office shooting the shit I kept waiting for a paramilitary assault team to come in after us. This was late-80’s / early nineties, and the pawn shop had a beautifully restored ‘57 Corvette. My dad was trying to work out some trade with him, but he had $25,000 on the windshield. Local consignment showroom has one right now for $200k.

Am I the only one who watches Die Hard and Die Hard 2 every Christmas?

With McClane in pursuit, he killed a few of the men - and followed on one of the snowmobiles. He accidentally discovered that the mercenaries' guns were firing blank ammunition (their cartridges were marked with blue tape; live ammo was marked with red tape). He was astonished to realize that the Special Forces men and the mercenaries appeared to be working together. Stuart, Esperanza and the others on snowmobiles proceeded to Hangar 11 to board the prepared 747 plane.”

Blanks get the job done too..

Friend's dad would let him borrow a 38 and we'd shoot beer cans with blanks/wads in the field across the street from his house on the edge of town. Blanks are fine for target practice from 10 feet away. Give you the feel of shooting a gun, and the BANG! But, no worries about falling bullets across town should someone fuck up and shoot above the backstop.

    Used snowboards? Yes

My splitboard was stolen out of a car near the Barmuda Triangle and showed up in a pawn shop in Great Balls where someone on vacation bought it and posted it for sale on Facebook where I saw it and notified the seller. He contacted the pawn shop with my police report and they told him to suck eggs. The seller sent me the board for free, and I organized a GoFund Me to raise the money to reimburse him for his bad luck and generosity. It took 20 minutes to raise the $$$ and get him straight.

I bought a 64 Strat in a pawnshop in downtown Cleveland in 1969 for $125. I still have it. Including the trem arm and ashtray cover. And a 65 Tremolux for another 125. I still have that too--minus the ungrounded cord and the death cap, but it still has some of the tubes I bought it with.

I don't know about Wooley but you can definitely kill a mammoth with a strat, although I prefer teles for the big ones. Well made instruments. Do not try with Gibsons.
