Who wants to do a little day tour out the Gemsstock backside:

Or a bigger skin up the Pazzolastock from the Oberalppass:

Plus, for the included day trip, what about Klosters/Davos:

Davos sidecountry down to the bus or train at Wolfgang from Weissfluhgipfel, about 4000 vertical feet:

You can bring your Australians, that's up to you.

Arosa/Lenzerheide (1.230 - 2.865m) is another option for the day trip. It's about 1:15 drive from Rueras, is enormous, known for good tree skiing and I've never been there.

Here's snippets of a lift assisted tour from Lenzerheide to Arosa to Tschiertschen and back to Lenzerheide

This trip sounds so delicious! I'm pretty sure I met Buster in Djongo waxroom in Jackson a couple years ago. Alas these trips are not in the cards for me for the next few years. It's so cool this even happens.
    Happy trails!

Lift ticket prices at Andermatt :

    There's 2 strategies:
    0) Buy a half price chit and then just buy daily tickets,
    1) Buy a multiday pass.

    Options are specified here: https://www.andermatt-sedrun-disenti...es/buy-skipass.
Half price pass can be bought here: https://www.andermatt-sedrun-disenti...alf-price-pass

Currently, it appears that the SkiArena has gone to a fixed price for daily tickets at 89chf/day.

The one time cost of a half price pass is 69chf. 5 single day half price tickets at 45chf apiece would be 225. So total cost would be 294chf == $320 for 5 days.
A 5 day multiday ticket is 311 chf. I'm not sure if the multiday has to be consecutive days, but I think it does.

I don't know if vendul has any better options, but there's no need to hurry.

One more thing: unless you want to get hassled by the conductor first thing in the morning, buy your daily ticket via your phone before you get on the train in the morning. The website above has a mechanism to store tickets on your phone in an online "wallet".

So total costs for 6 days double occupancy including flights, transfer, lifts, room and board looks like less than $2k.

Going solo I'm estimating to be close to $3k, plus food and drink and an upgraded flight with insurance

I'm doing 8 nights. When I looked at Mtn Lodge the room was 1040 and with breakfast it was 1168chf. And I didn't think that included dinner, last year I saw it was about 30chf. Are we getting a special deal with meals included? For first timers, buy food in the package, Swiss food is 2-2.5x more $$$ in Suisse than Merika. My flight Delta comfort+ with one seat upgrade and trip insurance was $1150

    I estimated

    hotel with meals 1400
    air fare 1150
    train tix 80
    hotel at airport 200
Lift tix 265 (pricing what a 5 day was last year)

    If meals are included...BONUS!

On mountain dining is definitely not 2x as expensive as US resorts. Maybe more like half as much?
