My typical not busy Friday afternoon trip to local San Diego Costco was nuts yesterday. Busiest I have ever seen and employees said it was like pandemic start. I didn't buy anything extra.

Plan to fill some water jugs. And yell at kids more than normal for have fridge or freezer open :-).

Could be foot of rain in mountains! Rain amounts in San Diego city should be ok, with normal spots flooding. I'm a little concerned about wind speeds, HOA has a few eucalyptus trees behind my house.

You can go from near the ocean to 10k in less than 30 miles coming from the East. This is gunna be a gnarly storm for a lot of people near the border.

I have noticed the news talking about what the effects might be in the USA, this thing is hitting Baja Mexico, people do live there. Looks like it's going to be rough for them.

I've got to think the biggest risk in the San Diego area is erosion from the torrential rain. Lots of hills/ravines and lots of houses built on them. I doubt the wind speeds will be high enough at that point for any major wind damage.

Currently in Phoenix with the wife and Thing Two. T2 is off to college in San Diego, and we were planning to head out from PHX tomorrow, then get her moved in on Monday…Based on what I’m seeing, we’d be driving right through the middle of the shit, so we’re gonna spend an extra day here and make the drive Monday morning. Thoughts from the collective?

T2 is off to college in San Diego, and we were planning to head out from PHX tomorrow, then get her moved in on Monday…Based on what I’m seeing, we’d be driving right through the middle of the shit, so we’re gonna spend an extra day here and make the drive Monday morning. Thoughts from the collective?

Ya pretty sure all activities at SDSU and other places there will be shut down during storm warnings and the aftermath of anything major Incoming students are probably getting email notices to slow their rolls... Schools here were closed Wednesday and Thursday when 100K+ lost power in a bad storm Tuesday afternoon.

Plus you need to cross Imperial Valley, which has extreme amounts of rain forecast. And Laguna Mtns.

I hear you man, and the school (not SDSU) has been really good about sending out info, take your time, we’ll be here all week, etc. We’re gonna take it day by day, but fuck if ima drive back to the Q, it’s actually nice and cool(er)
