Am I the only one who thinks Lanning looked like a light-weight throughout this game? They beat a 20+ point underdog and he acted like he was defending the honor of U of O and college football in general. Sanders’ comment about offending people insecurities seemed spot on. Don’t recall Georgia dwelling on the ass kicking they gave us last year.

I'm with ya, but I'm a CU alum and a Sanders fan so I'm biased. College football coaches think they're gods so it's not surprising that they start acting like insecure attention whores when the spotlight shifts.
Do I think the flash vs substance narrative is rich coming from a program built with nike money, known for infinite uniform combos, debuting color changing cleats? Yeah. Will I eat it up when Coach Prime uses some similarly dubious narrative to motivate his team? Probably yeah.

I'm a solid fan of Sanders through his entire shape shifting career. I'm also a fan of the amateur status side of college football. When they stop being actual students it becomes just another XFL/USFL side gimmick.
CU needed to be brought back down to reality here on earth. But I'd laugh my ass off if they find a way to beat USC. Grinch's defense has always sucked. Deion and CU can expose that.. A track meet would be pretty interesting..
Here's to an exciting rest of the season through the bowl games and playoffs.Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

I didn't see that at all. A higher ranked team playing a much lower ranked team but the whole country is talking about the lesser team as a world beater after barely beating a shitty CSU team in double OT. The Ducks just wanted to ball out with all eyes on the game.
It isn't about jealousy , just playing their best ball. Don't read anything into exterior appearance. If that was the case CU should win every game .

I was at that Georgia Oregon game. I’m UGA alum and my wife went to U of O.
Georgia’s coach was actually really complimentary of Oregon as Lanning was one of his assistants.
Lanning has a chip for sure. He thinks Oregon is underrated. There’s been a definite shift in protocol where coaches think they need to really run it up to get attention from the press. Fucking stupid as all you need to do is win games. No undefeated team has gotten denied entry in the BCS.
I say good for Lanning. He accomplished what he set out to do. Took all the media attention and turned it into a big Oregon win. Fans never seem to realize that a different team shows up every week. The Ducks looked great Saturday, just gotta keep looking great. I’m a big Bo Nix fanboy. Hope he can lead them to the Pac12 championship.

Very hard to tell who is legit and who is faking it this early with soft early seasons schedules. Utah and UW look legit with USC being a bit questionable on defense. There will be serious in league cannibalism as the PAC 12 gets put out to pasture.
Oregon needs to have better discipline moving forward, all those stupid penalties vs. CU would have killed them against a better team.Last edited by fatnslow; 09-25-2023 at 10:53 AM.

I guess Joe Milton is out of consideration for the Heisman.
How can he be so inconsistent? In order to properly convert this thread to a polyasshat thread to more fully enrage the liberal left frequenting here...... (insert latest democratic blunder of your choice).

That was fucking killing me during the game. I knew CU was unlikely to win but had hoped for at least a respectable showing and when the defense couldn't capitalize on the opportunities Oregon gave them, it was painful. CU's offensive line is in for a long season but the fact that their defense had zero answer for anything Oregon did and couldn't capitalize on their mistakes is very troubling. It's going to take more than just Shedeur and Hunter to get to a winning record this season.

Prime has helped create culture and expectations but you can't create enough depth in one recruiting season to be a real contender. He's a master promoter that created an incredible national narrative for a 3-0, only quality win was against NOW unranked TCU and almost losing to a FCS level CSU. Way too many people drank the cool aide when CU showed who they really are against CSU. Prime is off to a great start but they need another season ore two to really be solid in FBS competition.

I see UC and USC as a no defense track meet that USC wins but doesn't beat the spread..
College GameDay will be less than 2 miles from my house this Saturday. I have to swallow a little vomit and take Notre Dame. We'll never hear the end of it around here if DOOK beats them..Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

Lanning's job is to motivate his team and he's going to do whatever it takes to do that, just like any other coach.
The Buffs decided to grind up the O before the game and there is plenty of footage of Shiloh Sanders talking shit to the Oregon bench early in the game and running his mouth there after.
If you're an Oregon player (or coach), you're going to respond. In Shiloh's case, he got trucked and ended up pissing blood. As Yahoo Sports said, "Shiloh messed around and found out."
I'm happy for CU and what Deion is doing there but it would appear their players might have over served on the koolaid. Any rebuild takes time.

Mark Stoops asked if the Florida game being a Noon kickoff will affect Kentucky's crowd from being a factor on Saturday:

OU Texas is an 11am kickoff. It was brutal as a student there traveling to Dallas. Partying til 2am then having to head to the fairgrounds to park and enter the state fair gates and grab food and drink before that game. My kid has no problem with getting up at 6am to do that. He'll stay a few hours after to enjoy the fair stuff too. But he doesnt.... drink

As the former Defensive Coordinator at Georgia I wonder if Lanning’s newly minted attitude adjustment and confidence comes in part from Georgia and Alabama struggling? I think anyone in the top 10 has a legitimate shot this year. A lot of Georgia fans assume this will be a 1 or 2 loss season. Soft scheduling turns this week into a snoozer. Not a single top 10 matchup. Conferences be damned what we need is leadership from the NCAA and some limitations on scheduling non-competitive games. Bulldawgs maybe the best example in a soft SEC this year. FTR, this is the worst I can remember the SEC being in my lifetime.

I don’t disagree with any of that, except that an inferior team should be treated as such. Act like you’ve won a game before. It was clear that Lanning was shitting bricks.

It's all good. Call off the contract on Blackburn.
