I know there’s a lot of Canadian pride wrapped up in the Oilers (would it have been the same if it were the Canucks or the Jets?), and McDavid is clearly talented, but this entitlement to the cup being exuded is a bit much. After game 1 “we just need to keep playing like that, and we’ll be fine”…yeah, you guys were shut out that game and it wasn’t all Bob, FLA still got 3 goals too and it’s like nobody wanted to admit that. Shot differential told the tale as well. Then in Game 2, they try to goon it up…how’d that work out for BOS and NYR?

Totally agree about the nat’l anthem behavior. I remember watching Edmonton fans complete the US national anthem a number of years ago when the performer’s mic failed. That was awesome.

Goon it up? My ass that was playoff hockey and literally the same shit was coming from FL.

Watch Chuck, and particularly his stick, on the McDavid breakaway and then to follow it up with after the whistle scrum when McDavid did nothing to interfere with or harm the goalie.

The failed hit that got Foegle tossed? Literally, the same as what FL got a 2min minor for.

Drais’ hit, boarder line a bit spicy, but nothing that hasn’t been thrown his way.

Oilers don’t play a rough game until they get baited into it. Case in point, Dallas series which was pretty damn clean on both sides.

The NHL, as a business monopoly, benefits more from another southern market winning the cup. Helps them keep those otherwise disinterested fans supporting the teams.

Dude, what game were you watching? Oilers gooned it up big-time. Drai shouldn't be playing game 3 imo, left his feet and went for the head with his elbow.

The games I already posted video evidence of. Fl is one of the dirtiest teams in the league. Their “tough D” is just slashing and elbows to the face on the forecheck.

Oilers got baited into playing their game and didn’t do a good job of flopping or covering.

Bouch was nearly choked unconscious. That Bennett hit on Broeberg was indistinguishable from Drai’s. McD took more slashes than can be counted.

I didn’t like the Oiler play in the game. It’s not going to win; however, it wasn’t any different than FL’s.

I think the game you and everyone else was watching was how the NHL and its broadcasters spun it. Every Oiler dirty play was replayed and replayed again. Not FL’s.

I agree that FL is dirty, but Oilers got super chippy/dirty against Vegas last year when they started losing, so that's also sort of par for the course. I think to be competitive in the playoffs you have to be on the edge of that sort of stuff.

Yeah, I don't think that anyone is debating whether or not FL is dirty- they are. But the Oilers were far and away the dirtier team game 2. --Coming from someone who is neutral on both teams, I don't love or hate either of them.

My overall take, non neutral who watches a lot of Oiler hockey, I think they don’t ride the dirty line well.

When they get drawn into that style of play they do retaliate and cross the line. I don’t like it and don’t think it’s effective. It’s not good hockey and it leads to player injury. I don’t want to see Barkov injured just as much as I don’t want to see McD or Drai. Florida started to try and injure them from the first puck drop.

I wish the NHL would stop it to begin with, or if the refs aren’t going to call it instead of retaliating with sneaky cheap shots, that slash by Carrick was a cheap shot reply to a bullshit hit, the Oilers would just drop the gloves.

Cult of Hockey analyzed game 2.

McDavid was slashed every 5seconds he controlled the puck.

Florida implanting the Jordan Defense. Coaches taking the chance that they won’t call everything.

So an Edmonton based “journalist” writes an article and it has to be true? Stop exaggerating the article. He doesn’t say slash, he uses the term “whack”. He even states that if those “whacks” were hard enough, they’d have been called as a penalty.

Dude just give it up. Edmonton is getting outplayed and if they want to make it a series, they’re going to have to play a lot better at home than they’ve been playing on the road. Unfortunately for them, Florida is 6-2 on the road this year in the playoffs…

Man. I just get the feeling of Vegas had made it through Dallas somehow they could have won it all. Now we get a FL Cup.

That’s a different team of cats from last year.

They played a good game tonight.

As if a Vegas cup is any better? Ha

But yeah, I think a lot of the teams in the West would have made for a better final. I'm still surprised Edmonton got past Dallas. Healthy Vegas is good. CO without the Nuke suspension for sure. Edmonton usually gets blown out of the playoffs earlier than people think they might because they've always been so top heavy with a mediocre/bad goalie.

Well Vegas is my team so of course I think it’s better [emoji12]

Oilers just aren’t built to win 2-1 games and that makes life so much harder in the playoffs. If you can’t get a lead and then shut the game down I don’t know how you consistently beat good teams.

Kinda odd how the NBA and NHL series are so parallel, game 4 blowouts by the team down 0-3.

More like a parallel with the drama of the old WWF. It’s all for the crowds (wallet).
