Wild were 7 points out of the playoffs. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Why this late in the season, for playoff bound teams, when games get out of hand, do coaches not let the deeper lines get more ice time than the top lines?
I know there are stats and goal differentials to battle for, but isn’t this a good time (whether losing or up big) to cultivate those deeper line players? Why risk a chance to be the stars injured?
Well, the flyers are collapsing. Or have collapsed. It's really too bad.
In other news, coyotes moving to Utah? Let's go!
Sounding more and more imminent.
sigless.
McDavid out with a lower body injury. Hurt right after I asked my question. Hopefully nothing too serious and will be healthy by playoffs.
I take no blame. He will resurrect.
But seriously he got hurt in the 17:33 into the third on his last shift of the game. Why even have him on the ice in garbage time?
Metro WC is tighter than a dolphin's butthole.
Must be one of the truly unwritten ones then. I get that each player needs to pickup their own weight because hockey is one of the sports that can’t afford bench riders, but come on the dude is always logging a lot of ice time.
Late season game, against number one rival who is out of the playoffs, and having all the top players log more than 20min TOI is part of The Code? Fuck that; just dumb.
The Oilers have 4 more games this week; that’s some shitty scheduling. Essentially, all of them are meaningless because of the “play the rival” formatting of the playoffs. Therefore, I want to see more of Conor Brown’s scrub ass and less of Conor McDavid’s, so I don’t have to watch more Brown in the playoffs. Seriously, are these organizations and coaches not thinking this way? No way in hell would my top lines be putting in 20+ and my bottom -11 TOI like the last two games.
Didn’t grow up playing the game, so what do I know… except simple logic and cost/benefit.
Yes--a lot of the unspoken rules of hockey are dumb.
As best as I can tell, no one wants to be the last WC in the East. Maybe they'll have to do the playoffs with 7 teams.
Rangers - Isles tomorrow should be spicy...
Rempe gonna do Rempe stuff, too bad the Isles PP sucks and can't take advantage of him sitting in the box
It's not an unwritten rule, it's a coaching decision. It also probably has to do with McD not taking kindly to riding the pine, regardless of the situation. Hockey players just want to play, it's in their DNA.
No shit. I didn't think I'd see the Pens playing meaningful hockey in April, but there they are. Crosby is basically willing them into the playoffs.

Boom. Coyotes players told team is moving to Utah.
https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...oving-to-utah/
According to several sources, Arizona Coyotes players and staff were told before Friday’s game in Edmonton that the team will be going to Utah and there will be an opportunity to check out their new locale.
With players and staff demanding answers after reports of the potential move, Coyotes GM Bill Armstrong flew to Alberta after attending the Frozen Four semifinals Thursday in Minnesota. He declined to comment, but those sources indicated he came clean about the move and told everyone there would be arrangements to visit Salt Lake City.
I think they ought be called the pioneers. Big ass handlebar mustache...

I prefer Super Soakers
But
Cool to see SLC get another pro team
Ugh. Yotes ownership is such a shit show. There’s a lot of hockey people here in Phoenix and they just pissed away the fifth biggest metro in the US to move to Utah? Dumb.
Selfishly I want a hockey team close by as well.
I think the Yotes owner sold them to the league, who sold it back to the Jazz ownership. That’s a rumor I’m seeing. Also the Coyotes brand and colors will be shuttered, and once the AZ ownership gets their land and arena deal worked out they’d get the team back as an expansion.
At least it’s not going to Atlanta, for the third time.
Rumor has it the players and families are not stoked on this this
^^^ til they get off the plane and realize how nice it is here compared to PHX. Fuck that place.
sigless.
I mean, I’ve lived both places and while the nature of SLC is the best in the world, I’d live here in PHX before I’d move back to salt lake.
You couldn't pay me enough to live in PHX. But I'd say the same for SLC.
I'm sure there are some good points about PHX, but it sure seemed big to me with tons of traffic and hot as balls everytime I went there (mostly work trips)

Wish they had come to Portland. The pro sports world hates Portland though.
