Barry Melrose retiring. He is battling Parkinson’s.

That makes me sad as my dad passed away from a rare form of Parkinson's.

Aside from nerves the new rookie looked decent. Bedard looked nervous but held his own against a solid veteran squad. Not expecting much from a new Blackhawks team but it'll be fun to watch.

Lots of stuff but I almost went blind. Pierre is prob very jealous.

Also happy Bedard got another one on the board. Anaheim game was pretty good as well if you're not a ducks fan.

That game was a great way to end the frozen frenzy.

The Kings-GN games last night was nuts. Playoff level hockey for sure.

Watching the Bruins-Islanders and it's like a preseason pace all game. Super flat.

Woodcroft got the shitty end of the stick. The Oilers’ problems run deeper than coaching; despite them continually firing them. Namely the GM and salary cap. Nevertheless, it was Woodcrofts’s decision to switch to zone defense and to also not cultivate the 4th line.

I think the Oilers suffer the same problem as almost the teams in the great white north; they can attract the super stars with the big contracts, but the bottom of the lineup isn’t getting paid enough to avoid Joe Hockeys lecture about how they aren’t on their toes enough while they are sitting at table for a meal or walking the dog at the park. Canadian hockey fans need to chill out if they ever want the cup back. Since they can’t offer golf in the winter they can at least not publicly harass them.

It’s been nice watching slightly better hockey and seeing the deeper bench guys on the ice the last two games.

Watched the Canes vs the Flyers--the game was ok, the brunette in the red top behind the Canes' bench was outstanding. And I didn't hear Sweet Caroline once so that was good.
Some snazzy goaltending at both ends.

When did hockey players and other pro athletes having parents become a thing? Growing up you never saw mention of athletes' parents when watching TV sports, although I'm sure most players had parents. We never used to see the camera focusing on the parents when their kid scored a goal or a TD. Frankly, it's kind of depressing to see a beautiful, graceful athlete do something spectacular and then the camera pans to a fat old man and you realize that wonderful athlete will turn into that fat old man one day.
