Osteopathy ?

I hadn't heard of Osteopathy but my ski bud who is a pretty smart guy swears by this woman Gerda for ski and golf induced Trauma so i gave it a try

this rather stout older woman with a very swiss accent puts me on a table and proceeds to deeply manipulate me for about an hr then she slaps a big patch with some lineament on the owey spot and sez leave that on for a day

do i need to see her again ?

she sez let me know how you feel in 7-10 days

I would say its somewhat like Chiropractic but more deep manipulation all over instead of trying pop one thing, I would do it again and she only charges 50$ but its a 45min to get out to her farm so that costs some gas money to get out there out there

Some interesting sensations coming off the patch now so I am really curious to see what happens a week or 2 out

1 session with more as needed is pretty cheap altho it doesnt matter cuz its completely covered by medical,

as a side benifit going to the Osteopath is thru the rez SO I hit " Indigenous Bloom " cuz they can sell more potent gummies than the shop in town not sure why

I don't know what the situation is Canada but in the US osteopaths are licensed physicians who receive some manipulation training during osteopathy school but most don't do manipulation in practice. Most DO's seem to wind up in things like primary care and ER, maybe because they don't go to prestigious schools that will get them into the higher paying specialty residencies. My DIL is a DO in ER residency.

I have done chiro/ acupuncture/ PT but never really heard of an Osteopath, Gerda said she also did some practise in China, I did notice some shingles on the wall but didn't pay attention

I feel sore all over today but I did kind of expected that cuz buddy Don mentioned I might feel a little beat up

It depends. My wife is a DO in a field of specialized medicine and is also the medical director of her group. Got into a top tier residency as well as many of her classmates who are also specialized. They take all the same MD board exams plus their own DO ones. She doesn't remember a lick about the manipulations though. I'm sure a fair amount of bias still exists out there with the old guard though.

well Gerda definatley reefed on me pretty good, she is 64 sez she gets a swiss pension next year so I assume she has been at it a long time, there are 2 things I notice the day after

I am walking better in that all my foot falls are on the balls of my feet where as I had been kind of falling off the balls of my feet before and walking like an old fuck which of course I am

my back no longer hurts when lying in bed on my back

AFAIK they combined the board exams, so MD and DO all take the same exam.

I'm about as old guard as they come--I don't think there's much bias against DO's left.

After a car accident, my wife saw a DO in San Francisco for manipulations to help with her soft tissue damage in her back. It was a very gentle process. It was extremely helpful for her.

My primary care is a DO. He supposedly practices manipulations. I’ve never asked for them or had them recommended for me and I’m not sure how he fits them into his PCP schedule.

There’s a DO in Auburn, CA (I think) who apparently specializes in manipulations following concussions. It’s been really helpful for a young friend who has been healing and recovering for several years from a bad injury.
