The person used a thing called Ghostrider Kermode in the Chilcotin over the weekend. It's like a spray to keep bears away. They kept it handy, meaning it was easy to reach. Luckily, they didn't have to use it because it's better to avoid using it. They even fell a couple of times at slow speed, but everything was okay. So, it seems like the bear spray was carried safely and didn't cause any problems.

I didnt see a bear this year and last year they were in town where the food was, if I see a small black dog coming down the trail I make sure its not a cub and if I see 2 small black dogs i look for Mom

Haven't looked in Sprockets in a while. I have the holder on the inside on the right hand side. Haven't had any issues hitting it that I can recall. It stays in close to the head tube and out of the way of my knees.
