    Site Unresponsive

Anyone else having problems lately with the site? Often I'm not able to click on anything and then I'll get a couple "site unresponsive" pop-ups before I finally get this:

Seems like it could be some kind of memory leak in a script or something, but not sure if it's just something weird with my computer. I cleared my Chrome cache, but the problem keeps coming back.

It wasn't just TGR that was having problems, but I'm pretty sure I found the problem, It was the McAfee Web Advisor extension in Chrome. I turned that off and it seemed to have fixed the problem.

Woke up at 6am and was browsing and doing the coffee to shit shower and shave.
    Forum super laggy.
    A dozen or so members.
    But 1,800 or so guests.
    I’m guessing bot scrapers.
It’s firing fast now. But damn. It was clogged two hours ago. No way that was North American human beings. Or even euros.

    Maybe make it login only?
Could save the server and having to buy another box fan.

Main forum 453 users 14 registered. Now.

No way 1800 people were guesting at 6am EST

Is there a way to block the bots?
This must be the reason for the lag.
I think the box fan is doing fine.

Clearly this place is a treasure trove for AI scraping.

Can someone unplug the Server and plug it back in, box fan taint cutting it anymore.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

I’m back to 15 sec response times
    Not happening on other sites
Is the server door closed? Is the box fan working?

ETA - also getting a lot of “502 Bad Gateway” responses at the end of the 15 sec wait

I'm getting server response timeouts on TGR forums, not on other websites under different simultaneous browser tabs.
Also, 502 bad gateway tcp errors.

All of the above with needed refresh page to get the links to work. Occasionally you click a link and it goes to some random ad...

I clicked a link to go up a forum level and I got a new window with:
    https://www.collegeinvest.org/?utm_s...m_campaign=b2s

One of the many weird things about that is that is not an ad I see on here

Any mods that can get some idea if any of this is on their radar, or if it's just the beginning of the end?

Hi The AD! Have you had enough of perusing this technically primitive and unstable on-line community that is limping along on 25 year-old technology? I bet you have! Do you wish there was a winter sports forum that runs on bombproof AI-Powered™ and Blockchain-Enabled™ hardware and software? Well there is! We at ALPINEZONE have superior bandwidth and response times on our 5G superfibre Edge Computing™ network as well as a state-of-the-art virtual blade server farm with 500000 terabytes of virtual cloud storage. I also would like to take this opportunity to formally invite you to "start fresh" at our friendly forums. I can assure you that "newbies"'(jongs) are welcomed with open arms by our entire community(unlike here at TGR), there is no "hazing period" or rudeness tolerated. If you are weary of all the foolishness and yearn for some intellectually stimulating mountain sport discourse, then come join our fun-loving but responsible bunch of snowriding aficionados who know the benefits of what good moderation brings to an on-line community. I think most all of you will find that our seasoned moderators "keep the bar high" by maintaining a sense of order and decorum, while encouraging quality discussion about our favorite pastime. It may take a small amount of getting used to, as we do have reasonable standards as far as language and image posting that are strictly enforced. I will warn you however up front that registering an ALIAS is strictly "VERBOTEN", and something we have zero-tolerance with. The registration is easy and painless, and the rules will be explained in detail during the process. If you are tired of the juvenile goings-on at TGR, all I can say is: "Come join the fun"!
