    Draw:

Early Rifle Deer - pretty much my favorite time of year to hunt and my favorite type of hunting. Long sunny days of walking ridgelines and glassing is tough to beat IMHO.
    Bear - September Rifle season
Elk - may pick up an OTC tag. Tagged out on a moose last year so I've got enough meat for another 12 months so I may skip elk season whether I get a deer or not.

    Didn't draw:

    Sheep - points
Antelope - hemmed and hawed about entering the hybrid draw and ended up missing the deadline, think I'm at 11 points now for 'lopes.

Skunked on Pronghorn muzzleloader, Elk 1st, sheep and moose. Secondary draw, here we come!
The DOW report on herd mortality in northern Colorado was pretty alarming. Tags have been greatly reduced, as well as shortened gun seasons. Going to be a weird year.

I put in for a southern low odds deer tag where the winter didn't decimate them. I also put in for a bear tag for the first time around Hells Canyon. I guess I'll figure that out if I draw it!

Guaranteed tags are archery elk and archery pronghorn. My buddy in the Navy is coming out for the elk tag, so that should be pretty fun as we don't get to see each other much and he's a pretty funny dude who's been in the teams for 20 years. I may die trying to keep up with him....I usually survive by a hair.

No idea when Idaho draw results actually come out.

Drew a close to home deer unit with massive winter kill. Was wringing hands about keeping it and not hunting vs turning it in, but realized that I can use it to hunt cow elk in that unit instead. So I guess so far I have a deer tag with a cow elk add on.

    That's a great alternative.

Tac at big sky was a good time. Many arrows left destroyed on the sitka and prime coarse. Sitka averaged 80 yard shots. Rmef course was good elk practice.

Drew a local whitetail tag. It has 100% odds but at least I can say I drew something 🤷🏼♂️

Same, likely wouldn't have extended much effort on a deer hunt this year anyway w the idea of a better herd in the future.

Yeah, I did 44 as that herd didn't get hit as hard. The 48/49/50/36 deer got decimated and F&G won't raise a finger.

^^I applied for 44 too, but it wasn't any that great in 2019. Passed on 24 bucks and only got a glimpse of 1 shooter that year, although it was a LOT of fun.

2019 was brutal in general, if memory serves?

It was ok, but did get down to -22F the last 2 days of the season. Since I was hunting solo I didn't venture very far rom the truck those days. The herd has been hammered by over-harvest, winter of 16-17, and all the fires and I think it's in worse condition this year.

Only 1 way to be sure: Neek out there and get a few milk samples from select nannies while they're not looking, and have them analyzed by a certified lab. It's up to you whether you need to correlate polypeptides and enzymes to the county soils map. Let the data drive the decisions.

Guys, I love it when you namedrop and acronym, like you're only talking to your buddies hunched over the same HunX screen. Except no, it's shit.

I can dig not caring if anyone but your little clique knows what you're talking about, even a bit of obfuscation if, say, you're not legally allowed to possess a firearm due to your fucking sex offender status much less draw a rifle tag to brag about on the internet, or something...

But this thread might as well be full of expired swap links as what gets posted. Nobody who posts shit no one can decipher if they don't know you personally really gives a fuck [else they wouldn't make a habit of it], but the reader don't give a fuck several times over every time he scrolls the hunting thread this time of year while y'all speaking your code shit like you all have main character disorder.

^^^Sweet rant. What threw you off? 78-1 or OTC?

I could really trigger you and tell you that you can ethically harvest an elk with a 6.5CM.

48 Cow. Freezer filler for sure. Archery pronghorn too, but it's more just for getting out. The chances of me getting within 40 yards of one of those suckers is probably not going to happen. Makes for fun hunting since you're always seeing and making moves on animals! I may hunt deer, but only one spot where I found a very large grizzled old buck last year who won't leave my thoughts.

EE50101A would have been nice, maybe next year.

Colorado only has 185 GMUs, 8 big game species, 6+ seasons, 3 different application times and thousands of hunt codes. Don't forget to stack points, and read those drawn out & success reports for your unit! It's not that hard.
