Are you Gonna Need A Bigger Boat?
Shit's getting real around Spain and Portugal with Orcas.
The orca boat attacks are likely to escalate, former SeaWorld trainer says. 'Orcas love having fun, but they can have a darker side.
Short version.. Some pods have figured out how destroy sailboats and an expert thinks this behavior could spread/be taught to other pods and possibly go global eventually. I was under the belief that orcas don't attack humans unless provoked.. I guess that they think they're just playing but sure sounds serious to me..Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

The behavior of orcas targeting boats’ rudders and steering systems seems to be a recent development, with some scientists suggesting that young whales might be imitating the behavior of one traumatized orca. However, the general consensus among experts is that orcas do not see humans as food and are not aggressive towards humans. They are known for their intelligence and social nature, which could explain their curiosity and interaction with boats.
