Why the hell have I started waking up at 4am?
Why? WTF? It's been going on for a while now. Wake up between 4 and 5. Sometimes I'll sleep longer, sometimes (rarely) I'll even wake up in the threes, but it seems like it's 3-4 days per week in the 4s or early 5s. Sometimes more. Anybody else have this shit going on? How do I fix it?

I've been waking up at 3:30-4am for the past two weeks.
Light sleeper and the birds outside the window are fucking loud.

When I started having to get up at 4:00 in the mornings I was in my late 20s. Now if I can sleep past 6:00 it is cause for celebration.
I suggest you explore the wonderful world of the afternoon power nap.I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

sometime reading a book will put me to sleep, more physical work is more tiring so I sleep better

There is an insomnia thread you may want to look at. I am awake a couple of hours a night, usually between 2:30 and 4:30. And the afternoon nap really helps.

Welcome the world of biphasic sleep my friend.
We essentially take 2 long naps a day.
I got to sleep at 12:30am, wake up at 3, go lay on the couch until about 4, then sleep again until about 6-6:30.

I find 30-50mg of CBD helps my fall back asleep after waking up in the middle of the night. Unfortunately for me 2-4am is when all my business thinking happens, it's a blessing and a curse.

^^^^Yup, yup, yup and yup, what they said (other than killing roosters). Either that or your brain is telling you to get prepped for 4:20. That's what happens to me so I go out on the patio and smoke one, then I come in and phart around on the forum until it puts me to sleep.
