2024 Eclipse - no Bonnie Tyler videos please
Countdown started, get your reservations in now.
Really wanted to do Mazatlan, but that's just too hairy these days and the chances of scams are high.
We're locked in a place in San Antonio Texass, never been there, but hear the food's good. Really looking forward to it. Last one we were in BFE Wyoming and the dining options were definitely sparse, like the landscape. Very enjoyable nonetheless and can understand how people get hooked on chasing eclipses.

Was thinking that Texas mesa country would be cool for this one.

It's going to pass through Erie pa, and we have family with boats up there, so that may be where we head...

I believe my hometown is right on the edge of the totality path. I'm planning to do it up NE Ohio style by getting drunk in mom's above-ground pool.

I think we're going to do what we did last time - drive to some random out-of-the-way place an hour or so *outside* the path, then back roads to some random out-of-the-way place *inside* the path.
We heard travel horror stories from people that went up I-25 to Wyoming to see it, while we had few issues in bumfuck, Nebraska.
So probably bumfuck, Texas?

Been planning it for a while, but Maine weather in April is a total crapshoot. Over three minutes in Western Maine too

Got blanked trying to book my parents timeshare in Mazatlan so looking to other options now. It's at the same time as my kids spring break so I expect any costs to be totally insane.

A total eclipse of the arc?

Damn, this next one is rolling along already!! Thanks for the reminder. I guess we're going to Texas next year.
Edit: My sister said she'll set us up (of course she's going too) with her friend in Yantis TX (E of Dallas). I should probably get some refundable reservations somewhere around Dallas just in case. Next thing to watch for will be flights; ugh, but I suppose I could always do a really long drive.Last edited by bobz; 04-27-2023 at 09:17 PM.

Gonna hang out on my Kollege buddy's property outside Buffalo, (he's a 'troller at Holiday Valley). Yeah the weather will prolly suck and we won't actually see the eclipse, but we'll all be tripping on mushrooms anyway. I've heard the light during the totality is eerie regardless of the weather.

My plan is to drive up into the Adirondacks and find a meadow to watch from. There won't be any crowds because nobody lives there so...
