Did half and half day on FL105s / R110s.
    Quite pleased.

I found it funny that while skiing the FL105s in a cool, controlled manner ... I was still passing everyone on the mountain.

And Lord have mercy when you open up a can of whoop ass.

    Just saw this.

Obviously the skis have different preferences to how they ski. FL105 charger that can play; R110 player that can charge.

    Both like the shin pressured.
But on the FL105 I'm balanced on the ball of my foot with toe bias, while on the R110 I'm balanced on the ball of my foot with heel bias (and a bit more crouched for suspension on demand).

Depending on one's preference of ski style phase space and their home mountain, either could be a quiver of one. (Heresy!!)

I've had a half dozen days in a variety of conditions on the 185 r105s and as an aggressive daily driver it absolutely delivers. Tues at Alta was a great example of it's use case - good accumulations in the previous few days but limited terrain openings meant that soft chop and groomed runs were guaranteed but potentially deeper conditions were possible if gates opened. R105s were fun through the morning cleaning up leftovers and smashing through the chop, but also worked well in untracked once more things started to open up. These will definitely be my go-to for any day with variable conditions where there is enough terrain to justify them. Given their stiffness and general demeanor they would not be suited for smaller resorts with limited room to carry speed, but at larger western resorts they are a great do it all ski.

I got in my first real day of the year on my FL105's and was reminded how much fun they are at Crystal where you can really open them up. Conditions were 1" of PNW chalk fresh on top of softer snow. Every turn shape was available, but the most fun for me is huge controlled slarves where you feather your edge pressure to change the radius.

Chasing My Dream Daily Driver - The Heritage Lab FL105

Tried my FL 105s for the first time today. My initial impression was holy shit these things haul ass. Instant charge. I was noticing the tails quite a bit and I typically like a bit of tail engagement vs skis that are prone to slarving. I had no problem dumping speed. However, I am -1cm from the recommended range and curious if the tails would fade a bit if I moved up 2cm or would the tail actually be more pronounced? Not sure I move the binders either way but I am curious. Thoughts?

Could be this is just the most manly ski I’ve driven to date but I *might* prefer a slightly looser feel if the mount shift up would provide a touch of relief.

For reference (not all apples to apples I realize) I also ski and love all the below, which are likely the most charge-centric elements of my quiver. FL105 now wears the ZFs crown.

I sorta figured that would be the case. Just wasn’t sure if being back was shifting a bit of unintended weight towards tails. In any case I love them and I managed to not run anyone over. I also came off the Stormrider 110tt for the parking lot swap so it was a jarring adjustment. Classic rock to speed metal.

I moved the toes up after all my hand wringing and by re-using the forward toe holes as rearward holes and only drilling two new holes per ski I am now at 79cm from the tails. About .6cm ahead of the 78.4cm rec and within the (+/- 1cm) recommended range.

I was 75.6cm from the tails and that was sitting too rearward within my brain. I was close to 2cm behind your rearward rec.

Will get ‘em out again soon and hoping to feel a bit more in command vs the “this is really fun, but is it safe?” feeling I had take 1.

Doremite, not sure what length you’re on but I also owned the TToneten. I own the one nine two FL. I was at -twelve and bumped it up to -eleven and much prefer it there. Ski feels more balanced on snow and in the air. I don’t have to be so damn pressed into the tips now, more stacked which I prefer. I also put a hand bevel on the tails starting ten inches in and then dulled the last four inches with a stone. They release nicely now.

I was near -13.8 and now -10.4 so a huge jump but I figured why not reuse holes if I could

178cm more so due to the tighter terrain I ski in the east. I would have gone 185 if I had more real estate to conquer. I am not sure I can fathom the 192!!

I still ski the 183cm TT110 and use it as a ec powder ski. Very rarely need anything wider.

Thanks for the beta in making me feel better by getting closer to the -11 you’ve fallen for.

Recently had mine out for the first time this season, back-to-back days at Snowbasin.

First day, they skied me. You describe the feeling well. Second day, I was back in control and remembered just how awesome they are. Make me feel so much better than I am.

No FL here, but both the R and the BC in 185 mounted at -10.5 from center. Love the way both ski. Model is 6'1" and right about two hunnit.

Recently made the "wrong" choice and took the R105s out on a sleeper pow day that I might could have easily brought the HB122s. In the TGR parlance, "these skis fuck" or something like that. They are So. Fucking. Fun. Even in legit thigh to waist deep 37-40° trees, they killed it. Skiing them early season, I was a bit concerned about how they'd ski in soft snow because you can lock the edges in so hard on firmer snow, but once the snow got soft and even an inch or two deep they loosened right up. I shouldn't have been worried, the BC105 skis real fun and surfy in soft untracked backcountry snow and with the same shape and rocker profile it shouldn't be surprising that the R version floats way above it's waist width even for a large human like myself. The damp ride is really confidence inspiring, I'm skiing harder and faster this season and I'm stoked.

I feel like MO absolutely nailed it with this ski. It’s so good. My ski partner for the day (ex-DPS and ex-Blister reviewer guy) was saying it’s reminiscent of an OG reverse Corvus, also a great ski. It’s so versatile; carvy when needed, loose and surfy when it's soft, good float, blast through chop, can pop off terrain features, yadda yadda yadda.

The only thing that makes me sad about it is that more people aren’t screaming its praises from the mountaintops.

I have now 20ish days on my 186cm R105 and it’s hands down my favorite daily driver for CO conditions. As Full Trucker said above: they float just fine is pow but absolutely destroy chop. The groomer performance is amazing for a low/reverse camber ski. Tip em over and bite like a hockey skate. But get into moguls or just want to change directions and the pivot/starve abilities are sublime.
I have yet to see another pair out in the wild(I was at Monarch after Christmas and was looking for you FT!) but I think this is HLs most underrated ski.
    I am now 193cm curious

Someone here is looking to sell a pair of 193s, maybe in another thread? I considered snapping them up, but just don't feel like I have enough vert where I ski most often jaja. And it would have been rad to see another pair out in the wild, so if you make it back to Monarch shoot me a PM. I don't have nearly as many ski days this year as I'd like due to an unplanned house remodel, but I'm getting out there a bit. What's your local hill? Purg? Woof Crick? I'll ping you if I ever head to wherever you ski.

I had the same experience where we had 6-8” and I decided to hike to a few untracked spots. I was worried I was making a mistake but the R105 punched way above its weight. Surprisingly easy to turn. Honestly didn’t expect that for how this ski can rail.

R105s are surprisingly easy in deep fluff considering their lack of girth and general disposition to hate-fucking mountains. Still on the 192s.

Screw the money. I mounted them -11.1 (felt right in my head)

They are phenomenal, so intuitive. Another set of hero skis from HL! Loose Dynastar Pro Riders, a bit less drivable though as expected. More drivable than my full rocker Mantras. Playful and have more bite than I expected on ice.

These things slide sidewayz at 50mph like nothing else I’ve felt. Driffft

After two laps I was faster than on my Katana 108s. R105s kind of remind me of the older Katanas, just thinner and more playful. High praise. Probably my new daily drivers, but theres lots of rocks starting to poke out and I want them to last long time.

fwiw, I've been trading a 193 2020 corvus and 185 fl 105 on a daily basis so far for the season on the EC. Both are excellent, and I really don't notice a difference in the length at all. Corvus is more slippery and a slight better at really long turns, where the fl 105 slips well, but really hooks up the shorter turns well. I've not really wished I was on the other any day, wether it hard pack or powder, but am currently R105 curious as a result.
Fl105 as a dd, or basically can't decide ski is not a bad choice.
