Ive done 3x colace daily, miralax once daily, and even did a fucking fleet yesterday to get some relief. I've had 5 or 6 surgeries before and have never shut off this bad.

I can’t comment on being plugged up, but I have an inspiring update. Two weeks ago, I honestly thought I was basically out for the season. After some kind of dramatic change in my mental state and healing, I have been riding almost every day, including Sunday for a few hours in Pocatello, and almost 4k yesterday in SLC. Even a Bobsled lap with Beaterdit.

Two weeks post op remplissage + bankart repair. The surgeon I chose for this procedure has a non-negotiable policy when it comes to interscalene blocks for these procedures, sub scapular only. Hope you all are healing well!

Glad you are on the mend. Game time decision my surgeon opted to not do the remplissage so I wouldn't get "too tight". Just did the bankart. Nerve block is so weird with the needle in the neck, but cannot even image surgery without it.
Being in the sling is torture. So much I need to do around the house let alone just wanting to ride my bike etc. Dog just got neutered, I've come down with covid bad for the first time in a couple years, work is slow right now. Trying few weeks.

I know you know but.
One day at a time for this too. Hang tough.I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Anyone here had shoulder replacement or 2nd hand experience with shoulder replacement? Wondering how active the shoulder can actually be after the surgery- E.g. how much throwing can you do, what about MTB and skiing (including falling), etc. Is it a surgery to just make it easier to sleep through the night, or is there a good chance the surgery can get an athlete back to doing athletic things.

Grain of salt time. I was told a replacement has a shorter recovery time than a repair.
Either way I would count on a 12 month window before you start to get back to 90%I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Thanks WRG, sorry to hear about the added unnecessary medical complications. Like you said, total game time decision. We were told in pre-op, in and out under an hour, at the 2.5 hour mark my wife started to plan my funeral. 3.5 hours, on to recovery. This was my 4th bankart on that shoulder, 7th bankart total and 8th (4L + 4R) shoulder surgery. Sling torture is real! Have you considered the market for sleeveless bross hoodies?

Seems like shoulders are like spines: no two injuries are the same. What works for me, will in all likelihood not work for thee.

Honestly my main concern is throwing. I played fairly high level throwing sports into my early 20s and my toddler will be ready to start playing catch next year when he is 3. I want to coach his teams, and be a functional dad who can play catch, throw BP, toss a football, etc. I have not been able to grab a plate off the top shelf for about 2 years now, let alone throw and im really worried that im going to miss out on a lot of that quality time. Everything i read online basically says that after shoulder replacement the patient is supposed to avoid repetitive movements, and it is all geared towards senior citizens... i cannot find anything about a return to throwing that doesnt mention grandkids.

A partial shoulder joint replacement? A hemiarthroplasty? Those are usually reserved for elderly patients with proximal humerus fractures.

Saw the doc today for 6 week checkup. I've definitely been doing too much lifting with my arm but he didn't see any red flags that I damaged the surgical site. He believe maybe 30% healed right now and I can start weaning off the sling, but honestly I'm gonna keep wearing it a bunch. I wish I had one where my arm was strapped to my chest honestly. I can't fucking help myself. I've been out mowing and weed wacking and working around the house etc. If I fuck this up he said next step is a replacement or possibly some other crazy surgery with a weird name where they cut bones off one part of my shoulder and move them to the front of the glenoid rim.
Ughhhh. If only work was busier I wouldn't be quite so stressed. Work is slow. I cant really work out. I ride the trainer and then feel like death for a week because my covid symptoms flare back up. Tough couple of months.

Damn. Super bummed to hear your healing process is still going so poorly. Hopefully things turn around for you soon, buddy.

Your progress is about the same as when I had mine repaired. It’s a long slow road and it sucks when all you can do for exercise is hike, run (poorly) or ride a trainer indoors.
Be patient (yes I know that’s really hard).
Do your rehab exercises, but only what they tell you - being an overachiever will end up setting you back.
