That's crazy. Maybe that's why he's building this place. Needs more runway.

Hippie at my old airport built an ultralight that used the guts from a Zero motorcycle. It was gutless but quiet and kinda neat.

Yes, we will all be in electric flying cars by 2024.

Self launching gliders have had a variety of propulsion units for years now.

The runway itself is impressive, the house and gardens look like Versailles.

I would not know who Tyler Perry is if he kicked me in the shin.

You may know him as Madea in Diary of a Mad Black Woman, or as Madea in Madea's Family Reunion, or Madea in Meet the Browns, or Madea in Madea Goes to Jail, or Madea in...

I saw this stick plane on one of the hobby websites the other week. Looks like it could be fun.

Yeah that's pretty cool. I didn't see the price, how much are they? I wonder if it could carry any weight.

Starts at $200 for just the airplane. $360ish with the cheapest battery & transmitter, and over a grand if you go nuts.

Looks tiny in the pics, until you get to this one

Those are fun to learn on and you can fly them in smaller spaces. Go out early in the morning before the wind picks up, otherwise it gets real interesting.

I've flow a few different models in the past. It's cool how the flight characteristics of small scale RC planes mimic the real thing. A Piper Cub is quite floaty and with neutral elevator...just wants to stay in the air on its own. Meanwhile a P-51 Mustang comes down fast once you point it toward the ground.

Yeah, I had some friends who wasted a lot of money on RC airplanes BITD. I was mostly meh on it, but when one built a fighter replica with a ducted fan, that got my attention.

I suppose we'll find out if Tyler Perry builds a full scale Citation X. The RC planes can only stay in the air for 10-15 mins--I don't know how that scales.

The future of battery powered aviation rests in Madea's hands.

I think I've flown this twice. Landing scares the fuck out of me. I either need more beer or less beer.

That looks more technologically advanced than a real Cub. Full span vortex generators, no fabric (is it plastic or carbon fiber?), and do the flaps work? Guess that'd make it a super cub.

I won't go so far as to say the Harbour Air electric Beaver project was a publicity stunt, but something that ambitious would be a really long road to certification. Bombardier sold most (all?) of the DeHavilland type certificates to Viking Air, and their focus is on bigger airplanes. It would take a firm financial commitment for a large order to get them interested in pushing the electric mod through Transport Canada. Even then, the government could simply say no.

Looks like styrofoam. I used to pour over the Super Cub kits. A Beaver or Otter on floats would still be neat.

Guess I shoulda pinch zoomed. Yeah, does look like styrofoam. Still, real cubs are made out of bedsheets and horse glue!

A former coworker hit a barely submerged rock and wrote-off a C-185. An old friend put one on the bottom of a river. How crash-worthy would an RC Beaver be? Dry it off and fly it?

It probably says somewhere but what's the range on the controller? And could one carry a worthwhile weight of explosives? Cheap Kamikaze drones is my line of thought here.
