Talking "South swell tests lifeguards, surfers"

My bud in Hawaii just emailed me his surf report and this link. BWAAA-HAHAHAHA!

...part of the problem has been surfboard rental stands that hawk boards to visitors who have no business going out on days like yesterday.

But Stanton Vierra, 20, afternoon manager of Hawai'i Oceans Waikiki surfboard stand, said he had warned customers about yesterday's surfing conditions, and even refused to rent boards to those who were obviously beginners.

Fuckin' Ala Mo Bowls: nobody out

I just started surfing two years ago and my 2nd day out the cape (Mass) had some big Hurricane swell and I had heard that was the best time to go so I went to the surf shop to rent a board and the manager told me that he would not rent to me because it would be too dangerous so I was unable to go. The best part is that that winter I was running a on Mtn ski shop and who walks in but the manager of that surf shop to rent skis for his wife my response was sorry dood the snow is way too deep a dangerous for her. He did not like that at all then I told him who I was and the story and rented to him. Anway the quote reminded me of that.
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.
