I feel like perception of oneness with all of humanity that we are all basically the same person, is paired perfectly with also saying people are all just shadows on the cave wall.

They seem contradictory, but at the same time, while they both seem quite true in their own way, the sum of their parts seems more than the total and their apparent contradiction actually feels like it fills in the shortcomings of each in describing our reality.
