Seems like the people who shouted "just let Russia keep Crimea and eastern Ukraine - that way there is peace!" are the same ones shouting "goddamit how could we let this illegal invasion occur - that balloon needed to be shot down immediately - no tolerance for this invasion should be made - we are showing our weakness!!"

“But the pilots later gave differing reports of what they observed, the source briefed on the intelligence said.
Some pilots said the object “interfered with their sensors” on the planes, but not all pilots reported experiencing that.
Some pilots also claimed to have seen no identifiable propulsion on the object, and could not explain how it was staying in the air, despite the object cruising at an altitude of 40,000 feet.
The conflicting eyewitness accounts are partly why the Pentagon has been unable to fully explain what the object is, the source briefed on the matter said.”

How long until Magatards start chalking this up to the trade deficit?
I mean, that would be kind of funny."All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. We must never, ever be boring."

Tourists are vulnerable. Whether it's the pick pockets in Barcelona or air to air missiles above Alaska.

It'd be interesting if we could overlay the tracks of the balloons that passed over us during the previous administration with nothing at all done to counter them. We know there were several.

the Japanese fire balloon history is an interesting anecdote about balloons crossing the Pacific from Asia for nefarious reasons but IMHO offers little beyond that with regards to the current situation - but lots of history channel buffs are probably excited to get a "well actually....." moment in here - and bonus points for including Brandon or Trudeau in the comment.
If you were clever you woulda tied in an "inflation" pun. But that woulda gone over the head of the MAGA crowd (see what I did there?)

the interesting part of the Fu-Go isn’t the neckbeard fire go boom trivia (they sucked as a weapon), it’s they were a last gasp of dying traditional Japan - the washi for the ballon was handmade by farmers in the winter, the whole thing hugely labor intensive. Which is I guess another similar kinda freak trivia.
