    Jane's Addiction

Jane's has been one of my favorite bands since their inception. I'll admit the sound has become a bit more formulaic in the last few albums. However, Im still a fan.

So this last tour, with Smashing Pumpkins, David Navarro did not participate. This is a huge deal to me. It's like any history making band minus their founding and lead guitarist. It's just not the same. Navarro's guitar sound is more Jane's, to me, then Perry's voice. It's a unique sound replicated by not really anyone I've heard at this point. So I have a hard time giving credibility to the band if say either members are missing.

When Perry took off and created his side project Porno for Pyros, it involved Steven Perkins, the drummer for Jane's. They knew enough to change the name.

So here we are now. Jane's is announcing another tour. After selling out tickets, an announcement is then made that David Navarro will not be involved with this tour. Bad style and mojo in my book. This, after all the fans were asking the day of the announcement, if he would be playing.

Last tour, Dave's absence was blamed on long covid. However, he has since restarted "Ink Master" and art show exhibition. Plus lots of press about a wedding.

Jane's Addiction has also released news that they are back in the studio for a new album, saying they hope that Navarro might participate along with a list of other musicians. Again, how would you be making a new album and make it unclear what members of the band are participating.

What's going on here. I get the vibe, Navarro is out of Jane's Addiction, for whatever reason. Which party made this decision and why? Why is it such a mystery?

    Who knows something?

No Navarro, it's not Jane's, I'm sorry. You can play the catalog on stage. I dunno, I may just be a butt hurt Jane's fan. But it just doesn't feel right. I know many bands have replaced guitarists. RHCP for example, very close to Jane's in the music circles. Navarro is too prominent in the band to leave him out and move while keeping everything hush. I mean come on, really?

I know how the industry works. Technically Perry can do whatever. You have lawyers and music rights and how people are getting paid as members. Maybe this is the issue. Just be up front with your fans for fuck sake.

    /end rant

    RIP you fuckers

Nothing shocking is one of my fave albums. Awesome start to finish. I did like some of the porno for pyros stuff but definitely not nothing shocking level. Havent really followed them lately other than adding a bunch of nothing shocking to my amazon music playlist last week

Shocker to me, but in this clip Perry admits that his influences going into Jane's Addiction at the beginning were The Cure, Joy Division, and Psychedelic Furs. The goth element makes sense. Just wouldn't be what i figured was at the top of his head. cool.

First time I saw Jane’s was in 1989 at one of the seven shows in a row they did at JAFA. It was right after they got signed to WB and they were in that cool zone of still being “underground” LA darlings and transitioning into MTV “stars.”

The gig I saw had Pigmy Love Circus opening.

Also, it really hasn’t been Jane’s since Eric Avery left the band; their sound changed after he split.

Who has returned for this tour. Even more frustrating that now Navarro isn't there.

Speaking of Navarro and Eric Avery, they did a one-off project called Deconstruction.
It is one of my al-time favorite albums.
