Idea: annual pot for mag-funded gear sponsorship

Ok mags...so seeing the outpouring of donations for Par made me think we could probably do something like that more regularly. It's not a big deal to wrangle, and I'm guessing everyone who donated could probably do that once a year without really feeling it.

What do you guys think of starting something we do annually, where mags chip in for gear setups for two deserving mags?

We could focus it a few different ways...eg:

-Junior/Senior...one setup for someone young who needs it, one for someone 'retirement age' who keeps their ski life going but doesn't have a lot of extra funds...

-The 'almost spancered striver'....older groms who are moving toward competition but aren't getting skis kicked down yet. GSA sticker on helmet being the only requirement.

-The 'best bringer of dirtbag stoke'...the guy living in his car to get as many ski days as he can, using beat gear.


I think it could be cool. Obviously gear is always secondary to experiences in this world but it does make a difference, and getting kicked-down new gear is a nice form of good karma for folks who stretch their funds thin to keep skiing in their life.


What do you guys think?


We could maybe pressure one of our fellow mags who also happens to make fairly decent skis to participate, and lower the cost of entry a bit for this (cough-Melee-cough...)?
