I got BD verdicts made by atomic and the next year BD Verdicts made in China construction wise they were both ok, I think they made too many skis to be called " Boutique " we had a guy in town making like one pair a day and i would call that Boutique
i'm kind of meh on the whole Boutique thing, because I don't see how skis made in a garage are going to be > Atomic making them in a real ski factory, and who did the research to work out the right flex & profile why are they better or do you just have something nobody else has ?Lee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

They’re in every outlet store in Colorado (REI, Scheels, Epic, Evo, etc.)… I suppose it’s plausible

Someone mentioned Sego out of Victor, ID in another thread…figured they belonged here.
Kid from home had been working at Sego…just heard today he is no longer at Sego/I believe they have shut down operations?
Ironically, he walked across the parking lot and picked up another gig at Franco Snowshapes…..

Wubanger changed their name to WSD. WSD sold it to one of their athletes who had also helped with marketing and designing skis. He changed the name to Hinterland.

Sego is still operational — checked in last week thinking the same thing but was told otherwise thankfully

Boutique Ski Brands
Yes, ScottyBob’s were out of an old historical building on Greene St in Silverton then moved operations to China, 2006-7ish, iirc.
The TUA/Movement/BD connection is interesting. I’ve been liking my Conquests for touring. I wish I went a little shorter, however.
My Icelantic Keepers are beasts but super fun in deep snows.
Renoun’s are out of Burlington and make fun carvers and all-mountain skis. They’re fabricated over the border in Canukastan.

I wondered if something was up at Sego--essentially everything on their website is sold out.

A couple other boutique brands:
Amalgam skis in Maine
Romp skis in Crested Butte
7even skis in SLC
Freeheel life telemark skis in SLC
Winterstick snowboards in Maine, I think they also make skis under the name west mountain ski co??
I don't know if anyone mentioned Voile, definitely a bigger boutique but their operation is pretty small overall.

Another aspect of this I find interesting is it does not carry over into alpine bindings. As soon as the patient for tech binding expired that market blew up. But we still have the same alpine binding companies we had 50 years ago for the most part. There was Geez in the 80s and I think Line and Knee tried to make an entry and failed.
