So when touring with boa, how do you lock in your foot but have extra space over your toes? With buckles you undo the toes and can lightly do up the instep. And how do you punch anywhere near the giant boa dial?

I'm not thrilled to see the continued trend of Boa either. On the boot scaffo maybe as I always buckle that loose and leave it for the day anyways and only adjust the buckles on the cuff if I'm touring or working.

Since this is the rumor thread my wife got some boot work done this fall and the boot fitter claimed the Scarpa's rep said they are releasing their long rumored 3 buckle NTN touring boot soon. I called BS. He said he'd seen pics and then pulled up Scrapa's site on his phone to show us

Nordica has a love affair with PU plastic and the previous hike boot, the Strider came in both PU and Grilamid versions, I imagine that’s why there are 2 130s.

Not at all, I think both plastics have their uses. Sorry if it came off like that. I just think Nordica makes their belief in PU obvious.

I’m a huge fan of the Nordica infrared machine and their PU combination. If someone has a messed up ankle and I know it’s going to need a big punch, Nordica PU is my go to. Plus nothing grinds like PU.

major travesty right there. That silly gas knob thing along with all those "grooves" on the sides (lingo might be wrong but you know what i'm talking about, those sweet sweet 36-gram savings) makes me want to stockpile on current hawx .

they have the backland which is in its own lane, laying hands on the poor hawx made no sense at all. Only justification i see is retail price increase so that the bullshit fReEToUr bandwagon can be rode all the way until the wheels fall off.

Hawx Ultra XTD also makes the move to PU plastic like the Prime XTD for some extra weight but also durability.
Should be options available for both BOA and non-BOA models.

Backland XTD is a new line of boots to fill the gap between Hawx XTD and Backland.

No more Hoji Frees. Bummer. Just the new Tigard generic overlap boot, which has zero appeal. I expect it’s a cultural thing, but Dynafit’s whole approach to design and marketing seems so inauthentic. Perhaps the new Atomic Backland XTD will now meet the needs of those of looking to do big days skiing aggressive lines. Will be interested in the instep fit.
Those new “more anatomical” 96mm Dobermanns do look very tempting.

I’d wager it will fit similar to the current Tecnica Cochise’s pretty generous “99mm” last

Polyurethane instead of grilamid will make it heavier, damper, and better feel. It will have less of a pingy, aggressive rebound too. It looks like they beefed up the reinforcements in the shell to stiffen it up and make it bellow less than the old ones. I would assume the shell is thicker to make up for the use of pu which is inherently softer than grilamid.

Essentially it should feel more like a real ski boot.
