Ian Tyson passes
Records of Ian & Sylvia, Buffy Sainte-Marie, and Gordon Lightfoot are essential parts of any Canadian music collection.
Mr Tyson will be sorely missed. Damn good run at 89yrs young.Last edited by BCMtnHound; 12-30-2022 at 12:51 AM.

While Ian Tyson always seemed like a Canadian folky/ CW artist according to the obits he was covered by the big names, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, and Judy Collins; Neil Young included a rendition of “Four Strong Winds” on his 1978 album Comes a Time, and performed it with the Band
Apparently his folks moved to the colonies in the 30's where he started the cowboy thing by playing polo and going to private school
89 is a pretty good runLast edited by XXX-er; 12-30-2022 at 02:57 PM.

RIP Mr Tyson
Didn’t realize until now that he wrote Someday Soon, covered by Judy Collins. Another classic

I was an Ian Tyson groupie back in the 90s. Attended every concert he gave in Montana for most of that decade.

I’ve been meaning to post in this thread. Tyson was a solid songwriter, the real thing.

This Tom Power is playing an old interview of Ian Tyson and later Sylvia on his CBC show Q, by the time of this his voice was sounding pretty old, he said his favorite song was " Summer Wages " good song about BC
