A Trailforks subscription gets you full access to Discovery+ and GCN is a Discovery subsidiary, so maybe TF subscribers will be able to watch without paying an upcharge?

Really, TF gest your Discovery+? Need to look into this as I have the grandfathered intro pricing on TF. The wife accidentally subbed to Discovery+ through our Amazon Prime to watch some show and it was $6.99CAD/mo. Not clear to me if Canadians can watch the races via Discovery+ or not especially in Canada.

I always forget to cancel my peacock sub every year after ski season.. this year it was only good for US and Austria... I pay for the trailforks sub right now so we'll see if this is a benefit or not.

Same here... I can't imagine that a TF subscription gets you free Discovery+, but I'd like to be proven wrong.

Gotcha. FWIW, the Outside+ streaming app is pretty decent if you want to watch some cool adventure sports docs/movies while on the trainer.

US XC Nationals going to be at my local bump ski mountain this summer. Was hosted here in 2013 & 14. Not much elevation, but is very technical hopefully w similar course as back then. Was an awesome time spectating

I raced an enduro once at Bear Creek haha. It was definitely a multi stage XC race. Definitely tech.

The FIS ski calendar isn't *that* much different.

Not that the bike calendar couldn't be a lot better. But it seems like they've kinda backed themselves into a corner. They upped the production values a ton, which makes the races a lot more enjoyable to watch, but it also means every race is a massive, multi million dollar undertaking. I'm not sure the sport can't sustain a properly full calendar when each race is such an expensive ordeal.

The FIS ski calendar isn't *that* much different.

Even if you are a speed or technical specialist, you are racing 20 events on the world cup, so I would say it's pretty different.

Shiffrin is at one extreme, but she is 27 and has over 240 starts. Minnaar, also an extreme, is 41 and has somewhere around 150 starts.

Really it's just hard to compare these two things since FIS athletes compete in multiple events.

The women's calendar includes 11 Downhills, 9 Super Gs, 10 Giant Slaloms, 11 Slaloms and 1 Parallel race. The men's program comprises 14 Downhills, 7 Super Gs, 10 Giant Slaloms, 10 Slaloms, and 1 Parallel event.

Not really though. If you're racing DH and enduro, you're racing 15 events over an 8 month period. If you're racing xc, you're racing 16 events over a 6 month period. And another 4 more if you do marathon.

Now, not that many of the dh guys are also racing enduro, but they could if they wanted. Although I'm not sure how that'll shake out with the new calendar and enduros overlapping at the same venue with dh. But even if the dh guys didn't ever race 2 disciplines in one weekend, they'd still do 12 races over 8 months.

Haley gets the win. She looks noticeably more cut this year. Not that upper body muscle wins races. I am looking forward to watching her and Teegan Swenson's seasons.

I finally listened to (as much as I could stand) the Downtime Podcast with Chris Ball.
Gotta say, to me he sounds like a politician and a shill. Most of his answers were rambling run on sentences with little substance.
I get that he cares, but he also seems to think MTB is going to be mainstream like football/baseball. And he thinks what people relate most to is enduro and marathon. And he thinks we’d rather see 100% of a 2 minute track than 40% of a 6 min track.
Basically blew off the paywall question and said it’s gonna result in higher purses (which it most certainly has not for this year).
I’m still hopeful for a fun season, but nothing I’ve heard so far gives me those hopey feelings.

Given that it was part of the Lifetime Grand Prix series, I'm amazed at how little coverage I've seen of that race. Even just finding results on the Sea Otter website sucked.

Keegan is back strong on lifetime / whisky. Cole Patton has taken a step forward. Excited to see Halley Batton take the next step this season? Following XC has been harder this year. Having to dig a bit to find results and highlights. As stated earlier, coverage on the Sea Otter El Fuego was poor. I don’t know if nobody cares, or if it is an attempt to make things proprietary

What's with social media being slow (or just nothing) for big non-WC races? Crazy how hard it is to find results from the British race at Fort William or any of the Downhill Southeast races.
