This is always the first thing that pops into my mind when I think of Julia Child.

    Julia Child was a Boss.
This is a wonderfully charming documentary about the life and times of a true gastronomic pioneer.
It's informative, illuminating, funny AF, and poignant.
She was truly a larger-than-life personality.
And her love of butter? Holy moly!

Yeah it’s basically Cormack McCarthy’s The Road adapted into a video game, now with plague, subsequently adapted into a TV show.

Still enjoy it but it can be really bleak.

Let's be real, 99.9% of Jackson isn't equipped to survive zombies! Let alone pass closures, Nora's closures, or celebrity bears.

Just finished up season 1 of Tokyo Vice. Mostly enjoyed it, and it's kinda nice having to read some subtitles because it keeps me a bit more focused on the show. It's a decent crime drama that also highlights all of the neon weirdness of Tokyo.

    (spoilers below)

All that said, the fucking show just ends mid-stream. They set up a narrative arc right from the get-go in episode 1, and then they make absolutely no effort to bring any kind of resolution to any of the threads of that arc at the end of the season. Most shows end a season with at least some sort of closure to some of the story lines, leaving just enough hanging to bring people back for season 2. This show closed maybe 20% of the threads, cracked some new ones open in the final episode, and didn't even attempt to bring things back around to the thing they set up in episode 1.

It's renewed for season 2, and I guess I'm gonna have to watch that once it comes out, but now I'm kinda leery that this is gonna be one of those shows that just ambles along without ever arriving anywhere.

Currently watching this with my partner and we're only on Episode 4. Episode 3 was one of the best episodes of television I've seen in my lifetime.

Yeah. Ep 3 was so good... They took something that could have been a 5 minute throw away in another episode and created something beautiful instead.

Less a documentary than it is a mind-melting melee of sound and vision, it mixes archival footage, animation, and voiceovers into a blazing assault on the senses.
While more or less unfolding in a linear narrative, it is by no means comprehensive, starting at Bowie’s Ziggy period and then zig-zagging loosely through some of his other personas and career milestones.
For the most part it is largely intense and engaging, yet it does tend to drag in spots. However, the slow moments are easily overshadowed by numerous chill inducing bouts of emotional sonic bliss.
    Highly recommended.

The scene with Hank and the boxes of heads was incredible. If they maintain this until the finish this show is going to be legendary.

"Are there heads in those boxes? Why am I even asking that question?"

Why do I keep opening these?

Seriously. Probably one of, if not the best show HBO has had in a few (6) years

Bill Hader is a better director than actor and he's a great actor.
