NSR - Gluing Glass to Glass/Aluminum

Need to repair a glass side table kids slammed over. 4" diameter "hockey puck" of aluminum was bonded to the tempered glass table. Puck got sheared off but glue bond was so good it peeled a very thin layer of glass off which remains on ~80% of the surface area

Thinking best plan is to leave that layer attached so it fits perfect back in the void and then pick an appropriate bonding agent for what will be effectively a glass-glass bond. Considering just using the g-flex epoxy i have on hand but amber cured color not ideal. There are other 2-part epoxies that cure clear that would be perhaps more desirable. Research also shows UV cured glass adhesives to be a solid possibility, like a Permabond 610 but i've never used any. Anyone have experience here to steer me one way or another?

If it's a perfect fit, cyanoacrylate (Super Glue) is probably the right choice. Blow the shards out with compressed air first.

Here’s a few pics. No shards. Peeled off a thin sandwich layer of glass somehow. Maybe 5-6mils thick

Gorilla clear epoxy works well and is completely clear. I glued such pucks on tables that exert lots of force. That's not a slice of glass in the picture. It's epoxy. You can use a razorblade to clean the old glue off. Clamp the puck while the epoxy dries.

Yeah, maybe someone with more glass (heh) can school me, but IIRC if it was tempered, breaking the surface tension would have blown the whole thing into pebbles?

Anyhoo, epoxy it with clear and call it good.
