I watched a fantastic ski movie with story just the other day. It was a cinematic masterpiece from the early or mid eighties, I don't recall the name but it was about a broken hearted ski racer with the heart of a lion but tormented by inner demons that symbolically presented themselves as a paper boy hungry for currency.

This is what immediately came to mind when I saw the thread title:
The narrative and storytelling style is just so engaging for me. Always nice to see skiing (especially skiing like this) put into context of the skier's wider life. And, I know, the "Just follow your dreams, it worked for me!" message is kinda suspect... but what else are they going to say??

The Gripped in a cooley thread is a collection of all of his movies with TGR banter included. Don't worry if you start on the first page. Everyone eventually warms up to him.

Ah, you're on top of it already, of course. Youtube never lets anything slip past. But yeah, I'd say the Salomon one dragged a bit, while this one had me savoring every second.
