Replacing my Wife's 2009 Gotamas
My wife has some Gotamas from around 2009. They have been skied a lot and it's getting to be time to replace them.
We're in Utah and mostly ski Snowbird. These skis are her one ski quiver. She loves these skis. They seem to handle pretty much every condition pretty well.
What's out there today that would be a good replacement for these old goats?

Figured it was obligatory. Lol.
I’ve owned every iteration of the gotama and the mfree 108 really is a direct replacement yet better in every way. The moments are good suggestions as well.

I would think the Corvus is more like a Gotama. That said Sweetbippy loves her 172 MFree 108s.

I had those Gotamas as my first fat "pow" ski and then the Atris became my next main DD. My wife went from Fatypus E-Motion (like a wider Gotama) to Atris and has been happy for years. Versatile, accessable, soft-snow upside but can make a nice turn

That 2009 version is not full reverse, right... it's regular camber?
If so there's not much that is designed like that now, that I know of.

Replacing my Wife's 2009 Gotamas
Praxis mvp? Both twin tips, similar widths and turning radii in the smaller lengths. Similar stiffness iirc. That Gotama was a sweet ski.

I called the M102 the Gotama 2, and think Volkl failed in naming the m102.
I have an OG Gotama and a 2020 m102. The m102 beats the Gotama in every way, obviously, but the similar feel is impressive. It’s the ski that the Gotama was trying to be.

I have the same pair that I got from a buddy for $75. I love the way they ski but they are way too small. I have been looking for the equivalent since last year. I was thinking maybe the corvus but I am not too sure.

I never actually skied the gotama though I wish I did.
Have you tried the k108? It looks like the gotama was 105 under foot... right in between the m102 and k108.
Was the gotama crazy stiff?
I bought my wife a new pair of secret 102 (same build as the mantra) and they are WAY stiffer than my katanas even though hers are 1 size down.
Which is a round about way of suggesting the k108 could be a contender as well?

Try to demo a k108.
They can be pushed but don't need to be. Mine are mounted +1cm.
Even my intermediate level wife can ski them for an entire day but I can push them when I want to.
More versatile that you'd expect from that name and shape.

My buddy has some 177 Tokyo Nights Gotamas in good shape if you want to just replace.
