Yeah that’s actually the idea you buy the ticket, but not expecting many to show. The mountain is closed that day and only uphill is available. This arose from the mountain manager saying a lot of people don’t pay. Wanted to show it was valued by the community

    Edit for tunes

Any Mags traveling from around Saratoga Springs, NY? My daughter found the pair of Ripsticks she wants - skis are there, she's in Boston, we'll be in NW VT this weekend. Any mags traveling can do a pickup for us? We'll buy the beer.

27º bob w/light breeze and a current dry sky. 3 3/4' of rained on snow in the drive. 35º mid mountain.

edit; 8:30 update, almost 4" now with a fresh rain crust acquired since 5:45am, currently flaking big wet flakes.

Farmed some scraps of untracked entering and exiting L Birdland yesterday. Was nice out with a very light midweek crowd of mostly intermediate skiers, like only one track on Mall at 11 o'clock?

Got out for day 1 at Cannon yesterday. I found some leftover fresh turns, but per usual at Cannon, I had to dig deep and had a great day...but wow...

What a lift shitshow! Zoomer chair appears to be down for the season. Gearbox is toast and they're scouring the world looking for parts. The Cannonball chair was down and the Tram was having "battery charging issues" so it was super slow to load and get moving...every box. But hey, they've got that fancy RFID passes now...just can't get anyone up the hill.

And thwacky! Wtf. This is what Avalanche looked like...they spent money in the wrong places this year.

Apparently the Bottlewoman and I are pro level at ice storm chasing in Maine. What was groomed was actually pretty damn nice this morning. This hill continues to impress!!!

I've been watching the web cams and Sugarbush has had a constant strong flurry all day long, more so than Killington and Stratton. The base is certainly in better shape than a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully it is not rock hard tomorrow.

Plan A today was to ski for a bit over an hour and then work on B-net.

We went to plan B, which was just to work on B-net, after things got a bit crunchy. I tried the ungroomed portion of the trail on the first lap dropping off rolls of net, and it was a bit terrifying.Click image for larger version.

Ktown actually skiied pretty darn well. Rode up the chair with a couple dudes early in the morning that said of the groomed was no Bueno with crust. I was surprised to enjoy how well it skiied. Renegades were the call. Rocker, width, and, I suspect, nose taper made all the difference.

I was on Bent Chet 120s at the River. They made the ungroomed skiable, but I couldn't find a balance point that let me make consistent turns without feeling like I was fighting the crust. Since I had work to do, I didn't go looking to see if maybe a different aspect or elevation (or maybe trees) would ski a little better.
