Much shorter vertical 1300 feet. Small in area as well.

But honestly many of these trees are in the 33-38 pitch realm. IE as steep as Upper Starr at Stowe.

I had to look where Mont Grand Fonds is located - that is some effort. Looks like 5+ from northern VT. You were rewarded with the effort! Great vid - thanks for posting.

We have a similar plan at the loaf, winds are coming up as the mercury goes down.

Perfect weather for our deadhead weekend, indoor concerts for the win

Sunday River is running a weekday lift menu with the subtraction of 10 (White Heat) and 12 (Aurora), with the stated goal of being able to have enough staffing that lifties can switch off enough to stay warm. I expect having extra hands from a lift maintenance and patrol standpoint plays in as well. Short stoppages feel a lot longer at -15 degrees.

Smuggs just announced closure tomorrow with the potential for Saturday to be impacted as well.

Surprised they are running. I was there with the family about a dozen years ago over Christmas week and they shut the mountain due to cold.

Ha! bush is going all in unless wind shuts shit down

3:15PM: Consider today one last oasis of warmth before a stream of subzero weather arrives over the next two days. Tomorrow it's going to be cold. Really cold. Bitterly cold. That doesn't mean we aren't spinning the lifts, but it does mean you need to be fully prepared for temps in the negative twenties at the summit and negative teens at the base. Put on all your layers, take frequent breaks, and keep an eye out for frostbite. It's also looking quite windy, which could play a factor in lift operations, and also means that with wind chill it will be even colder than it looks. Snowmaking will continue in Stein's, Snowball, Spring Fling, and Racer's Edge,

Won't find me out in that cold unless someone wants to summit for a possible record setting day?

Said it earlier but just surprised mountains are willing to spin lifts in those temperatures. The risk of a mechanical failure increases in those temperatures. Folks up on a lift waiting for an evacuation seems like a recipe for disaster and a bad lawsuit.
