Some people don't gotta pay dues...
I'm a slow learner. Went to Stratton yesterday (Sunday). Got there before lifts opened. Got in 2 runs before the hordes of beginners showed up. If it wasn't so scary, it woulda been comical. Lotsa peeps parked at Sun Bowl to avoid shuttling but the trails to get back there were almost unskiable and steep by Stratton standards.
Going back for more today...

Sunday River was okay this weekend, Saturday started off nice on the groomers but the afternoon definitely got scraped off; Sunday was tough with the crowds and colder temps, some of the trails they had open were downright dangerous with the conditions and amount of traffic.
Made the best of it and got out early Sunday for a little frontcountry tour up Locke; absolutely gorgeous morning for it, bluebird skies, spacious views and no wind, felt good to earn some turns - skiing is fun!

i know i’ve had a very sunny disposition all week so let me fix that by showing you all how much more snow we are in fact getting than we used to.

The problem now is that even on "banger" years where we get a lot of snow overall, there are also a lot of thaws which don't allow the snowpack to get deep for extended periods of time. Especially outside the higher elevation areas. It is like a giant roller coaster of deep snow/crust/hardpack every week. Although that cycle is still WAY better than what we have this year.
Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

Can confirm. I remember a study done for Montreal a few years ago showing that there is much more ice buildup on the streets nowadays than just snow thanks to the continual freeze-thaw cycle throughout the winter season. The purpose of the study was related to snowplowing and challenges getting around in the city in the winter.
