39º and bright bob w/a light high cloud cover, better than the 45º and gale force winds at 10 pm.
Pleasantly softish skiing yesterday except for fling which was a bit crispy. Left at Kook-O-Clock when it got too dicey.
Out late day for a quick hike up through the woods for a Slide View
Then caught the Lynx sunset

The northern Maine vs southern Maine is an active debate with many folks confusing Western Maine as Northern Maine and leaving down east Maine completely out of the discussion.

I would say something about UMF grads and maps, but my brother graduated from there with a geology/GIS degree so I should probably keep my mouth shut.
I toured Bowdoin, I think it was Maine student day or something, and I don't know that I could argue with that "bunch of snobs" sentiment. My dad actually fell asleep during the presentation in the dark auditorium, which wouldn't have been so bad if we had been more than two rows back.

Although, to be fair, it did teach me not only how to successfully navigate a Buck dump but also proper use of a spork.

Today was day 3 for me. Stratton. Pro tip: on weekends, all the drunks sleep in 'til 10. Got 2 hours of solid groomer zooming before it got to be human slalom.

Today was day four for me, plenty of good snow at Sunday River but the snowcat parking is getting a bit out of hand. Not only are there two still in the overstuffed Barker lot, but they left one on the top of Cascades this morning (I'm assuming it was having a bad day and didn't want to go back to the garage).

Day one at the loaf for me.
Our snowmaking upgrades are producing an impressive early season offering. The increased pressure in the lines has been finding weak spots in the old pipe network which the ops team is handling with ease. We’re able to run twice as many guns at once now due to a mid mountain pump station installed up by Bullwinkles.

Price goes up!
South facing took a hit from yesterdays weather, North and upper reaches still have some limited coverage. Wednesday looks troubling, oh, the weekend as well.

I'm one flight to the east coast away from making my next mileage tier, and my nephew is in his freshman year in Boston. Having done my undergrad in Boston and grad school in VT, I'm flying to Boston on Friday to pick him up and spend Saturday and Sunday skiing . . . somewhere. He needs to experience fake snow and a WROD. When I lived in Vermont I mostly skied Killington and Sugarbush due to the student season passes, but the New England Jeep dealers did this promotion where if you show up at whatever mountain they said on whatever weekend they said, you skied for free, so I've skied all over the place.
From snow reports it looks like Sunday River has the best coverage right now, although I was surprised that Killington didn't open Superstar today given the race last weekend. Stowe also has coverage but the open terrain looks pretty blasé.
Any recommendations on where to take him? I'm not married to skiing at the same place two days in a row either. I'm just going to find some dive hotel(s) so moving on Saturday night won't be a problem.
