Bottle at our age, does it really matter anymore?

What's up S? Few and far between this season. Hit me up if you make it west.

Powbmps, same if you make it this way for your yearly spring trip to the other side.

Laps and Doremite have both added some training heels to their quiver. I waffle every season but in the desk drawer, I have a rough draft of a multi-page screed supporting why free-heels are better for VT skiing.

Skinned and skied the Tuckerbrook after work Tuesday.

Got some untouched pow in the glades at Cannon Wednesday. Saw folks skiing tramline. Looks like a lot of sharks there still.

Did a 3 night xc ski tour at Maine Huts and Trails. Great food and facilities. Conditions were varied.

Looks like a great week for everyone all around.

Late to the party with these pics from Wednesday at Plattekill, still figured I'd share.

It was quite a day, Plattekill's first Powderdaize since 2021. Looked like about 30 inches of snow and the hounds were out.

Crippling lift lines at open, we must have waited at least 5 minutes

The workday started years ago by ex-powderbroker has paid off over the years (Scottski pictured)

    Gore peeps in the house

Eventually we made it out into the sidecountry

Bucket was also in the house, I saw his famous skis stuck in the snow but never laid eyes on him.

Randomly rode the summit chair at solitude with @VTskibum ! Nice pow day today.
I asked for change based on a post in the Wasatch thread.
My 13 year old son was like WTF?
We took a few laps together in honeycomb.

This was covered up thread. We are on the lookout for his missing pole. No joy so far, Bucket.

thanks brownski. this is the zone where i went down. was later infuriated at self for leaving gear behind but it had been a quite the effort getting myself free in a bottomless zone and i didn't feel like clicking out of my skis to do a proper search.

^^harv: read your report (wow you and scottski were behind me on the lineup...how often does that happen?!) glad i wasn't the only one feeling the challenge. i started the day on block and it was tricky to find the fore-aft sweet spot. the lower angle run on twist that followed was more fruitful and got first tracks for last half. took a break at 1:45 and then a few more before catchung my last chair around 4 and getting swept out by patrol, with legs overcooked!

I don’t discriminate. Perhaps I am getting old but tight steep trees (looking at you Smuggs) ski better for me with training heels. I am probably 80/20 these days. 20 alpine binders of course.

Yea of course I blame those around me for making me "late."

Finding the fore/aft sweet spot (great description)... let's just say I admit that in certain situations, fixed heels are better. I'm assuming anyway because I've never tried them.

Way to make it all day. I wanted to, but Scott was my ride, and he had to roll. Deep down I knew I was to tired to ski, so I accepted it.

Thanks for the comment on the blog, that's currency in my world.

Unfortunately the grooming is a bit "hit or miss" these days so it can be great for skinners and not so great for paying customers (or vice versa). The College is really struggling with how to run a ski hill in 2023.

Maybe some local alums should cough up some extra donation $$$ to cover the added costs of operations.
