it’s game on for the stowe/smugglers notch gondola interconnect… so do you think stowe is going to be dropping ticket prices or is smuggs gonna be raising theirs?

After reading both articles, it seems more like “game on” for the project to get tied up in a lot of opposition and controversy. That thing would have a huge footprint.

    ^ Well that sucks.

I won't be shocked if it gets blocked by some environmental group.

Hey I am planning a presidential traverse run in a few days. Has anyone been up there lately to ski and have an idea how much snow and ice i will cross? I know the usual gulleys and bowls hold snow but usually the ridge is clear in June.
    Any beta out there?
    Basically should I bring traction?
    Thanks!

They can’t even build a parking lot on the stowe side, but they think that is going to work?

the originator of this thread portended a big finish.
we doubted it was coming til the ides of march.
2.5 months later killington finally closed superstar.
in spite of 12 of may's 14 operating days being bathed in warm sun,
the trail showed no stress til the week before memorial day weekend.
via webcam we watched ops make things good as new.
after memorial day, the snowpack appeared to be coming apart.
thursday morning, after a full night of precision grooming, K opened with top to bottom coverage, and closed with the same, minus some vert rugged brown and chunky bumps for last half dozen turns.
A BIG FINISH IT WAS and all the better, VT-freeheel was there, and finshed his day skiing in jeans. (sorry no pics)

Vail has a lot of power but the Act 250 board doesn’t give a shit about them. The 2 year timeframe is marketing hype. I’ll have hip surgery by the time ground is broken in this gondy.

Smugglers’ Notch executives argued in communications with the state that plans and details for a connector lift should be considered confidential, which would have shielded them from becoming available through public records act requests and claimed that keeping the plans secret gave the resort a business advantage that would be compromised by revealing them publicly.

Great effort by Killington to have the last skiing in the east but today at the West River Sports fundraiser in Londonderry, Magic showed why it’s the best mountain in New England by beating the Beast by 2 days.

I won’t debate the best mountain claim, but that doesn’t look like lift served skiing to me.
Because rich has nothing to do with money.

    Ok let’s get this straight-
I see a lift , I’m certain skiing is happening and I’m sure people are being served.

    That’s my hill.

It was a great party. Ben O and J Diggs were so stinking fast on the up, it was insane.

Great music by Saints & Liars, Bow Thayer Band with Krishna Guthrie on bass, and they did a 5 song set together at the end. June 3 and most spectating folks had at least a down puffy on when the closed out at 8:00pm.

I'm going to go ski that patch in a bit.
